Japan didn't have African slaves but they traded their own people as 奴婢 (nuhi). Those were both long before either of us were born, though, so why bring it up?

If you do want to get the past involved, let's talk about 穢多/eta and 非人/hinin. Maybe they weren't slaves, but that's because no one even wanted to look at them. We may have done reprehensible things to Africans but we didn't go so far as to label them "filth" or "non-humans."

Oh, and even though the caste system was abolished nearly 150 years ago, let's not forget you're still discriminating against their descendants as 部落民/burakumin.
