How can I/we help 4ch? (21)

I'm not some zany philanthropist with a squillion in the bank (I only have 50USD in my checking account...), nor am I a talented programmer (the only "language" I know is HTML 3.0), but I'd like to help out 4ch somehow! What can I -and other 4ch'ers- do to help with the site?

Inquiring minds must know!

You can let more people know about 4-ch and get them to try it. (especially if they've seen Densha Otoko) You can encourage them to post anonymously and expound on the benefits of anonymity in a way that isn't preachy.

I agree with >>2. The thing we need most at this point is more people posting decent content.

Right now hosting isn't an issue since it's being donated.
Coding is alright since I've been doing tonnes of that since nobody can/will.

So, yeah, all I'd like to see is more people, more quality content.

It does move kinda slow. I found out about 4-ch through wakachan and that through wikipedia's article about the os-tan girls. I'll see what my forum friends think of anonymous posting. One great thing is if I say something real stupid I don't get quoted 4 months down the road.

To follow up on what >>5 said, if you refer people 4-ch please make sure they understand the differences between an anonymous bbs and a phpbb. its annoying when someone takes it offensivley because you saged their thread.

also, >>5 = http://dis.iichan.net/idc/kareha.pl/1151713476/ ?

So it's not enough to bring more people over. Gods, that's the last thing a place like 4-ch needs: the unwashed masses crawling all over the place, getting all pissy over tripcodes and so forth. That'd be the message board equivalent of wtfux!

So yeah. I guess I'm going to just put a discreet link on my personal 1996-style webpage. I've got mad google juice though, and I'm sort of worried what kind of users the 4-ch threads getting crawled would bring in.

Newsflash, 4-ch threads are being crawled. Search for residents of needler hall and a thread appears within the first 5 links.

Yeah, even being crawled on google blog search.

thats another thing I've noticed...people seem to take sage as an insult when it really isnt meant to be that. but I'm straying from the point.

sage=set a good example
GOOD use of sage:
(sage because I'm adding nothing useful to this topic)

Bad use of sage:
Sage as an insult is part of the board's culture. The failure to bump a topic, and thus the accelleration of that topics end generally indicates a dislike for the post.

Of course that isn't always the case but sage as a negative is even more ingrained than any of the memes, because the functionality is built into the board.'m adding nothing useful to this topic)

SO PLEASE STOP BEING FAGS AND LEARN TO USE SAGE

Yes, I know. But more google juice means higher rankings and potentially more embarrassment.

This wouldn't be an affiliation, I hope? Affiliation carries a connotation that some of us find unpleasant.

What would people say to the idea of 4-ch merch? I've been wearing the organic fitted tee version of this one for a couple years by now, but why not open an official shop on some printing site like Zazzle, Spreadshirt and/or Cafepress to help pay for hosting bills?

Also, am I correct in my assumption that I don't need to ask permission before I print DQN-kun AA onto a shirt for myself? How about if I want to sell one with "http://4-ch.net/dqn/" printed on the front, and said AA on the back? Or DQN-kun bumper stickers? Do tanasinn.info and/or SAoVQ have any official merch outlets and/or plans to start them?
