for a while i have been unable to access the shanachan.org and when i sent them an email it bounced. does anybody know what's up with the site?
kiddy porn happened
Yet another nail in the coffin of oldschool chan culture. There aren't many left now.
Chans were a mistake.
That's sad! I still wanted to appreciate post modern furniture!
I don't know why www.shanachan.org is down. But there has to be a reason it was taken down for some kind of reason....
>>2
surely just deleting that should fix any issues?
>>10
There's been an update recently. You used to be able to ping it but now it's unreachable.
>>11 There was a lot! I'd see it on the front page every now and then so I offered to help as a janitor, and realised that's it's pretty much a constant stream; it also seemed that whoever was posting it sometimes waited till you'd deleted them all and posted more when you went away. It didn't seem like there was much but I think the mods were constantly deleting it, like full-time
I visited shanachan for years. It really sucks that they just took the site offline without any notification. So much content was lost.
Is this thing about illegal content just a rumor or did the mods or owner actually say that is why it was taken down?
There are so many better ways of dealing with a bad poster than deleting an entire website.
On another note, is there any way of getting ahold of the owner or admins of shanachan? There were a few sets I wanted to save but didn't get to it. I would like to get a copy of the threads so that I could save the stuff I wanted.
I know what you mean, I had been using /m/ partly to bookmark the best denpa tunes I'd found so I didn't lose them in a sea of moonspeak on my computer... I hear songs I want to listen to but I can't find them again!
Email was just shanachan@shanachan.org
>>16
I have been debating emailing myself, be sure to let us know what comes of it. I suspect your going to get an undeliverable message.
No I'm too shy
too shy for what?
>>19 To email a site owner, that is beyond my limits...
You're right. That's the first thing I tried soon after the site went down and it bounced back at me
shit... still nothing
I am surprised the owner hasn't posted anything about it anywhere
Can anyone remember what the denpa song I posted was where the hook up into the chorus felt like she was pulling you up by the scruff of your neck? I want to listen to that 6 times today
I wish I knew what had happened to it. In the meanwhile, is there any similar place we could go, beyond 4chan? I don't have any sites that match Shanachan's easy, casual pace.
>>26
I think it's gone. The IIchan/Wakachan culture is gone. What hurts me the most is that the site owners could not post a goodbye message to let us know what's going on. If they could start up something like a twitter account for the sole purpose of explaining what happened, I would feel closure for the end of the community.
https://bienvenidoainternet.org/0/ reminds me of /z/ but I think it's in Esperanto
>>25 It was "画面からね出るなんて、無理っ!" by my darling Momobako!
>>27
Awwww, I think that's really sad. I'm a little slow to be keeping up with the likes of a place like 4chan, and shanachan was a perfect fit. Not sure where I'll go now.
>>32 When soviet russia.org went down for a similar reason some of its boards migrated to shanachan.org, I don't know much about it beside that
>>28
The UI is Esperando but the posts are in Spanish.
ShanaChan, Rest In several archives scattered around the internet
Fuckin' shame that its gone
what archive is best though in terms of number of pictures? the wayback machine was disapoint
>>33
I used sovietrussia so much back in 2007-2010. I would post my module music I made on there since it had a semi-active group of tracker users.
Now there's nowhere for me to talk with other people who use trackers. The whole scene in general just fucking died when 2010 hit and I don't know why. The only other people I've come across since are retro junkies who only use them to replicate NES style or Renoise users who overproduce everything.
I just miss sharing my crappy modules with others and them sharing theirs back. Small communities just cant exist anymore.
>>38
It died off well before 2010, but we all miss sovietrussia. Even though we represent less than 1% of imageboard culture we do exist, we're still here and will be here long after (((they))) are gone.
I miss those days a lot
everything was so different
The community we had on one of the sub-boards was really friendly and healthy, it's a shame I'll just never talk to any of those people again. They were a part of my life for like 3 years, longer than that since it went back to iichan.
PINGAS
>>38 I probably have some of your tunes on my ipod heh.
It sucks. I used to visit a lot when Sling posted news articles on their news board. Then he suddenly disappeared, and I lost interest after that.
I still miss this site, it was like the last of all the Internet communities I felt like I was a real part of and they've all just been ground into dust by Facebook/Twitter/apathy.
And Reddit, how could I forget, that stupid site I've check every day for the last four years.
Is Reddit that bad? How does it compare to old school textboards? I always thought like it was a more up-to-date textboard, just my opinion :P.
I have been a redditor for seven years and I can agree, to some extent, that reddit is kind of a more up-to-date version of a textboard.
One of the many problems with reddit though is that most of the users only care about the potential karma they can earn from a post and not about the value of the content itself. They are driven by points they cannot redeem for anything; karma points are literally just digital paper weights that mean nothing. In the seven years I've been there I have less than 300 karma points because I mostly just enjoy reading stuff that seems to have some value and thought behind it.
Youngsters today and even a lot of adults treat everything as a social contest to see who can become the most popular and it is fucking insane!
Reddit would truly shine if they took away points of any kind so there would not be an incentive to post shit content and also force everyone to be Anonymous so people would truly value their words.
My thoughts exactly.
Visitors might abuse anonymity, though. Just like what happened/is happening to the image board that shall not be named on 4Chan.
I agree. But lets face it, there will always be people abusing the anonymity-type systems unless we have enough mods online at all times of the day to ... you know, mod.
So anybody know what happens now? If the server took it down does it just eat everything, or do the federales go picking through it or what?
At this point, the general consensus seems to be that the owner took it down because of illegal content. What I'm curious to know is that when that happens does everything that was on there get deleted, or do the feds go through and see if they can track down who's who?
You're just mad because Poem For Your Sprog is more accomplished than you'll ever be.
If anyone else interested in images from shanachan.org I accidently downloaded some galleries in april 2017 - few weeks before shutdown. http://bozek.cz/shanachan.org/
So, we don't have any other board like this one ? I really liked being here too :/
>>56
I'm sorry you didn't get my favorite. I really appreciated the post-modern furniture in the post-modern furniture appreciate board.

Thank god i accidently run into his site, before which I didn't even know there was such a website like Shanachan.
I've just downloaded the 36GB zip file and googled all my way here, and finally figured out what happened to that site.

Is anyone getting the forbidden error on bozek cz/shanachan org
What happened
I MISS IT SO MUCH AND I DON'T KNOW WHY
Heard it got flooded with kiddie porn
bozek had a reupload of many of the pictures but the website is now not assessable
Man, shanachan is one of the oldest sites I can remember introducing me to one of my major kinks, sucks that both the site went down and the backup to the site went down. Trying to download the archive but it's currently on 2 days remaining
does anyone have a working link to the archive? both are down
