this game just really pissed me off. i'd been playing through the game without using a guide, but by the end i was still missing some stuff that i couldn't find, so i consulted gamefaqs.

it was there that i found out about legion.

legion is a boss that only appears once in the game. now, the game has a soul system - for those not familiar with it, defeating enemies sometimes gets you their soul, which grants certain abilities. one-shot bosses give you their soul whatever happens - other bosses reappear somewhere in the castle, so if you miss the soul you can go and get it.

the exception to this is legion. if you don't kill legion in a certain way (which, not having read a guide, i was obviously not aware of) you don't get its soul. ever. this means i can't get 100% of the souls in the game.

without 100% of the souls, it's impossible to open up a certain area of the castle and get a certain item. this, in turn, makes it much (much) harder to get another item by completing the boss rush in a certain time. for the obsessive in me (who makes an appearance whenever i play a castlevania game) this is unbearable.

so, yeah. fuck you igarashi, fuck you konami. i'm almost tempted to buy an action replay just so i can get that damn soul.
