He did make the decision to kill himself in public in front of television cameras. If you're concerned about the privacy of your suicide, there are other options available.

There was no way at the time to know he'd be made into a gross animated gif, of course. Is the (unedited) gif/video really entertainment or just a record of a truly notable event? Those gifs/macros that are edited to make light of the situation are no worse than those that make fun of 9/11 (in fact, I'd argue not nearly as bad).

Anyway, it's our right to be callous, crude, and disrespectful of the dead, so there. Stop being so sensitive, harden the fuck up, etc.

Also, are you implying he was innocent? I'd like to hear your case if so.
