I hear by declare ED and everyone of it's faggots total shitheads and fail.
Really, do we even need this shit? All GuyVinyl does is complain about the internet.
Seconded
I don't like the vulgar words and non stop negativity.
I enjoy it, it brings much headache-inducing wheeze-laughter.
Particularly the slander articles on bizarre characters (like Mongo the wikipedia ex-admin)
Also, check out the rare serious articles on wikipedia/Jimbo Wales' various vendettas (particularly toward ED itself)
Did you know the mere mention of Encyclopedia Dramatica on wikipedia is effectively banned? It's not even in this list of wikis despite being more notable than 80% of those already included!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wikis
And I have a runner up:
Urban Dicktionary.
Really, someone should IP hack and take down this shit.
also wikichan
etherchan.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
urban dictionary is often useful. encyclopedia dramatica is often shit. neither are 100% one way or the other
yeah, urban dictionary might be 96% written by idiots, but it's still incredibly useful for deciphering either some obscure regional slang or stupid meme that you haven't heard before.
encyclopedia dramatica on the other hand is a distillation of all that is terrible about certain corners of the internet.
> Really, someone should IP hack and take down this shit.
yay for vigilante censorship!
one of the memes i created is now on encyclopedia dramatica, so i feel like i finally accomplished something in my life
True story: Encyclopedia Dramatica is a shitty site accountable for about 50% of the keyboard-slobbering retards who currently post on 4chan. These people can be easily identified by their desperate attempts to use "lulz", "9000", or "drama" in practically every sentence. They think repeating the same thing over and over is funny, and have never come up with anything even remotely original. 4chan "invading" ED back in 2006 was a mistake. It made 4chan stupider, but completely failed to make ED better.
Truth.
>>11
I'd just like to say, FUCKING SECONDED.
lulz like drama x9000
>>11-14 90% probability of Jisaku Jien being the subject of an article on ED.
Not that actually I care, unless said person is a "Sage Freehaven" level douche.
nevertheless ED is good website IMO.
> good website
the only good website in internets history is zombocom
ED is a hate site, it promotes hate.

The face of ED (Erectile Dysfunction).
OP - Butthurt fag?

WORD.
I once believed that the GNAA-run ED deliberately made 4chan entries to entice newbies to join 4chan and sabotage it.
There are recognisable by their over use of the word EPIC.
Not that we needed the gnaa's intervention for 4chan die slowly from it's own openness.
"Fight club" has been overrun by "project mayhem", idiots with names, following leaders like sheep, who believe they have a higher purpose.
There is no purpose. There are no rules other than the ones set by freedom. "Tyler" is within every man.
You cannot belong by using signs and memes.
It is a slow process of lurking and learning.
It is a personal journey where anonymous, toshiaki, noname, etc... become part of who you are and you become part of them, you share in their successes and downfalls.
These new users do not understand the culture of anonymity, they do not understand anarchy, they want to belong without working hard, they want to be led.
As much as I despise these new users for pissing on my culture, I feel for them and their desperate longing to be part of something. Sadly, for most of them, anon culture is not the answer. They belong elsewhere but have nowhere to go.
>>26
I despise you for taking the whole thing way too seriously.
Who gives a flying fuck? It's anonymous, you can be a faggot, an asshole, an oldfag, it DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER. And you know why? Because it's anonymous. There are no rankings, no ideal way to be a /b/tard, just try you're best not to fail miserably.
And on the topic of ED, it's good for a few laughs here and there, but it's nothing special. It's just an encyclopedia of internet culture.
My issue with ED is that it's maintained by a bunch of faggots who are insecure about the size of their penis and as such they have to insult anything and everything.
Oh, and they're complete pussies for thinking swap.avi is the most fucking disgusting thing ever.
> a bunch of faggots who are insecure about the size of their penis
Sounds like you'd fit right in.
Through ED I found 4-ch.net - so it can't be all that bad, can it?
>>26
But... do I have to be anonymous? I watched Fight Club and I think it's a pretty good movie. A movie. I've been to /b/ on many imageboards - and there's no fightclub spirit there. "lolz" killed it I gues.
Name: Katamari Bowl
> Through ED I found 4-ch.net - so it can't be all that bad, can it?
> But... do I have to be anonymous?
Changed my mind; ED SUX COX!
lol :) Don't get me wrong, there are things wrong with ED, namely negativity. But they do fight a good fight against furry, we have to credit them for that.
About that name of mine :) It's a joke, ok?

"On a forum where registration is required, or even where people give themselves names, a clique is developed of the elite users, and posts deal as much with who you are as what you are posting. On an anonymous forum, if you can't tell who posts what, logic will overrule vanity." http://wakaba.c3.cx/shii/
Corrected my error and will follow the tradition. Thnx, bye now.

Thank you for lurking more, it's appreciated by all.

A goon-funded, Brazilian(I think) made scat porn.

They do? I never remembered it being mentioned anywhere, then again, I have hardly been there in the last year and a half or so.
When I first found it (googling something, I forgot what), I thought it was entertaining, and decided to start writing/editing.
Then I started posting on 4chan.
Then I thought it would be a good idea to invite channers to ED.
It worked okay for a little while, but then they started coming in droves, in part because of the shit from last August, in part because ED was starting to become Wikichan 2: The Memening. Between that and people wanting to really get ED's name out there, which ended up compounding the problem, it wasn't fun anymore. Pissing off some emotionally unstable LJ users was one thing, but trying to be wikichan, and an internet celebrity site, and keeping up with the vlogs of fat youtube users rambling about hackers and geospacial coordinates was just too much to try to even read about, let alone write about.
Then I found 4ch and decided to just chill on DQN.
jesus fuck, you pussies.
ED is just another site meant to be funny. if its not your humour, dont visit it. you just look stupid for having a serious discussion about this shit...
for fucks sake...
i hate encyclopedia dramatica. stfu and go do something positive
ED isn't any more funny then telling somebody "Your moms so fat..".
>>40 agreed
this thread is so bad
i fucking hate you OP
Actually I find a fair number of the articles quite amusing.
I do believe it's slightly better than Urban Dictionary on the intelligence scale. At least most of the stuff written is coherent and not some one liner dribble. Unless you have a page written about you (in which case you are either an attention/cam/furry/deviantart whore), I wouldn't see why it would be more offensive than some cheap satire. Granted, it's not as funny as it used to be with the recent over use of memes, but like with most good sites, it's the cost of popularity and as a result, more noobs joining the party.
I visit ED a lot, not really because I enjoy it, but because it's great to find out what's happening around the internet, epically the parts I'm not really into like myspace. A lot of times I go on it to find out more about 4-chans latest trolling victim, or to see if Fox News has done another INTERNET HATE MACHINE story. I wouldn't have ever even watched the Chris Crocker rant if I hadn't skimmed the article about it, simply because word-of-mouth wasn't enough to interest me. Some of their Youtube links are pretty good too.
OP is just a 4chan troll victim and is butthurt the laughs are now shown on ED.
Kind of like >>49, I just go there to see what the hell is going on with things. Right now I go to ED every day to see the status of 420chan.
>>54
Don't provoke your other personalities.
>>49
I agree. However, I do slip in some contributions in the form of images "for the lulz"
Have you read the discussing for the wapanese page?
These people clearly understand what they're doing is wrong (like posting personal information and being racist) but the fact that they're doing it on the net, they feel like they're not doing any harm.
The thing about this is, if the spotlight turned to them instead of the people they mock on their site, they would realize how bad it feels to have your face on a page with text degrading you.
There isn't an article there about me, but I've been mocked before so I know how it feels.
