I don't know, mixing code and html is no problem when using, let's say ruby on rails, but I've seen some awful stuff with php and some of the java frameworks out there.
The important thing is separating your presentation layer from the others and keeping the presentational code simple, readable and keeping as much logic away from it as possible.
