NEW YORK \ Burger King Corp said Friday that it will return to the Japanese market in 2007 after a five-year absence. Burger King Corp CEO John Chidsey said the company will tie up with Lotte Co and Revamp Corp, which will operate the fast food outlets under license agreement.
They plan to open 100 Burger King stores over five years from 2007. Chidsey said Japan is important to Burger King's international development strategy. Burger King has more than 11,000 outlets around the world, of which 90% are franchises. Burger King pulled out of Japan in 2001 in the wake of weak sales and a price war with McDonalds.
U.S. doughnut brand Krispy Kreme is also heading for Japan, Lotte and Revamp having already opened their first such store in Tokyo on Friday.

I saw the new krispy kreme place in shinjuku, it was at the lit up section near the south exit. Full of couples and hueg crowds who just couldn't wait to stuff their faces with donuts.
I hope they start a franchise in Saitama.

I'm not sure. Japan copies America, screws up the process, and calls that screwup their own.
America invades Japan, which emulates American animation, which eventualy turns into a unique style, which charms the hearts of thousands of white nerds, who abandon their culture for Japan's.
Japan wins.
