In many GUI environments, including Microsoft Windows and most desktop environments based on the X Window System, and in applications such as word processing software running in those environments, control-V can be used to paste text from the clipboard at the current cursor position. Control-V was one of a handful of keyboard sequences chosen by the program designers at Xerox PARC to control text editing. Presumably these particular keystrokes were chosen because of their location on a standard QWERTY keyboard, since the Z (undo), X (cut), C (copy), and V (paste) keys are located together at the left end of the bottom row of the standard QWERTY keyboard. The equivalent Mac OS key combination on Apple computers is Command-V.

Intermission – a short quiz

You have made some observations and calculations, which show that humanity is doomed unless it changes its ways. You have total belief in the accuracy of your predictions. Do you:

(a) Announce your results, but keep your workings secret for fear that someone will criticise them.

(b) Announce you results, but set up a group of companies to make yourself mega-rich on the back of the scare you have created.

(c) Drop everything, including secrecy and profit, and devote yourself to saving the human race.

PETA just gave Microsoft Game Studios and Lionhead Studio's Fable 2 their game of the year and went on to praise the game as innovative, educational and full of morality. While playing through Fable 2 I found myself shopping for and munching on tofu snacks, celery and carrots instead of jerky and meat pies to stay thin and loose weight. However since I was playing a totally evil dude (who is now a lady) I joyfully slaughtered little bunnies, totally sworded and shot lots of innocent people, ate baby chicks, kicked chickens and ruled with a bloody tyrannical iron fist. But I did try to watch my meat intake to stay thin.

While I fully understand that this game has an achievement for kicking chickens and shooting little bunny rabbits the game is all about moral choices and the consequences of such actions. I would not go as far to describe Fable 2 as preachy vegetarian propaganda. However I would describe the movie Chicken Run as such.

Now that I got evil corrupt killing stuff out of my system, I am debating starting the game over again and playing a piece loving hippie vegetarian who does only good things and never ever engages in unscrupulous real-estate deals, only has safe sex, does not randomly snap and goes on a killing rampages. At least I ate tofu and veggies the first time around.

gItfs cold in here.h muttered Odysseus.

Fiz rolled her eyes. To her, when the phrase slipped out of Odysseusf mouth, it meant he wanted her to leave. gAlright, alright. Ifll go.h She groaned, leaving the Looking Room.

Illiad, however, took this phrase differently. To him, it meant that Odysseus wanted him to come closer, to warm him up. The fiery hedgehog approached Odysseus, putting his hand under the echidnafs chin. gWhat is on your mind, Ody?h Illiad asked with a caring voice.

gIfm very tired, Illiad.h Odysseus said, his words slightly slurred. gHave we not been tortured enough? Wefve been abused ten times more than any abuse we have given.h

Illiad chuckled. gOdysseus, you raped people. There is no torture above that.h

The echidna shook his head. gExcept for this. Years of servitude with nothing in return?h he shouted.

Illiad said nothing as he pushed Odysseus to the ground, pinning him. He pushed his nose onto Odysseusf nose and began to breathe heavily on his face.

Odysseusf eyes were wide in shock. gWhat are you doing!?h he cried out, trying to get up from underneath Illiadfs body. Illiad did not let up, and continued to push the green echidna down.

gYou poor thing.h Illiad mocked, sliding his hand up Odysseusf robe, feeling him up.

Eventually, Odysseus let out a screech. Hearing this, Fiz ran out into the Looking Room, shouting out gWhat is wrong!?h

Illiad, however, had disappeared in a puff of smoke. Odysseus lay on the ground, his robe pulled up.

gNasty old man.h Fiz said in disgust, walking off, leaving Odysseus by himself.

Hoffer said: "The less justified a man is in claiming excellence for his own self, the more ready he is to claim all excellence for his nation, his religion, his race or his holy cause."

People who are fulfilled in their own lives and careers are not the ones attracted to mass movements: "A man is likely to mind his own business when it is worth minding," Hoffer said. "When it is not, he takes his mind off his own meaningless affairs by minding other people's business."

What Hoffer was describing was the political busybody, the zealot for a cause \ the "true believer," who filled the ranks of ideological movements that created the totalitarian tyrannies of the 20th century.

Hey all. well lemme first start out by saying, i am a game designer, have been sence i was 12, i am 31 now.

i just started a game company and i have 1 programmer and 1 pixle artist.

the problem is that both of them seem to have dissapeared without saying anything.. and quite frankly im tired of waiting.

the job is PAying pending on the release and what we make for the game.
i will be writing 9 games for the G1 / Iphone platforms then will be expanding to much larger platforms. i hope to expand this company to the level of Blizzard entertainment, but we gotta start somewhere.

we will charge for the games we make. and depending on sales and the percentige of work you put in, you will receive a cut.

Note: I dont want people who are flakes. i like things to be done in a timely fasion and my people to be able to be gotten ahold of.. if you dissapear for weeks at a time please do not apply. i am looking for steady employees who want to be part of a GAME company.

this is just like any other job. if you dont show up for weeks you can expect to be fired.

I think there are exactly to kinds of meaningful ways to conversate on the Internet: true anonymity and forcing everyone to use their IRL identity. Using `screen names' or nicks combines the worst of the two worlds: your online persona is not really you, so you can act like an asshole without any responsibility, but you still have kind of an identity to tie your ego to.
