Have any non-porn games been translated, comercially or by fans? I'm not completely averse to adult content, but it would be interesting to see a story that was more than click-through filler for CG galleries.
I've been looking for much the same thing. After a while of searching I've found a good database for all translated visual novels. http://vndb.org/v/search?q=English
I'm currently trying to get my hands on Eve Burst Error and Tsukihime. I've yet to try either but I've found nothing but praise for these games/novels. If your looking for something with depth and style these might be good choices.

An inwork english translation patch of the dojin Game Higurashi no naku koro ni (AKA, when the Higurashi cry). I've played the game, and its good. It'll give you nightmares though, its quite the creepy visual novel.
Its not a full finished translation, though, but its ongoing and being updates all the time!
There is quite a lot of Higurashi though, to the point where it is seemingly impossible to acquire all of it. Correct me if I'm wrong, because there is most likely some box set of the whole thing which I'm not aware of yet.

There's 3 games (original, Kai and Rei) which are about $25 each. Paletweb used to sell them but they're sold out at the moment. Himeya might have them.
You can also get the PS2 game. Or the DS games.
OK. I was thrown off by the Wikipedia listing saying there were 9, but obviously they have now grouped the question and answer arcs together to reduce that to 3.

I just finished the translated version of "Umineko no Naku Koro ni." (http://animehistory.wordpress.com/2008/08/22/umineko-no-naku-koro-ni-translation-patch-third-release-episode-1-complete/)
It was very good, has anyone else played it?
Who's played / is playing the translated Chaos;HEAd?
C'mon, I'm lonely here.
>>62
I am... Unfortunately I'm not very far in the game. Just past the point Takumi visits the hospital to verify he doesn't walk in his sleep.
>>62
I wish, I run OS X, so I'm using wine. And there's a linking bug right now, which breaks opengl support. So no Chaos;head for me.
Do you need to buy the japanese version of the game first then download the patches?? or is there a free version
>>66
It would help if we knew which game you were asking about.
If it was Chaos;HEAd, it's the former.
Im looking for an eroge, it cant be yaoi (thats japanese for gay sex) or anything faggy. It has to have 4 or more heroines and has be be moe (cute/adorable). And has to be really eroi (erotic). Also It has to be about 9240 yen. And you have to post screenshots of it first (i want to make shure it’s moe [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching telephone card (NOT USED). OH! and it CANNOT have any ero on the box art, or be only available as a download release. It has to be sold in a standard DVD case, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I have found an eroge similar to the one im describing on dlsite, but it was a download release, and i want my eroge (erotic game) to be in something i can put on a shelf (to make my apartment more kawaii)
Not yet, but I'm quite interested. I just played Saya no Uta (another game by Nitroplus) which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I just started clannad and I'm in a bit of a rut. I seem to be not able to get past the nagisa route at all. It's not a technical problem, but I feel so bad whenever I have to ignore Nagisa in order to advance any of the other girls' routes that I just either end up not finishing that route, or I change it to a nagisa if I still can. What should I do seeing how I'm such a failure...
>>62
YES. It was awesome. Play Saya No Uta too, if you like Chaos;head
hey.. someone, is there any full clannad, kanon, shuffle! free download sites.. also with translations..
>>68
Just from how your so specific shows that you are an ungrateful moron. Be happy for what you get. People work hard on translating without you incentive need to make their lives more difficult. That's all. End of story. Game Over. Case closed!
>>68
I agree considering that an asshole like you can get his kicks from making too many demands. Not every Visual Novel has all your "expectations" So back off idiot. Oh and also I wanted to save this from you. You Lose... Fatality!
>>68
In after describing 80% of the VNs ever made.
>>68
He definitely just redid a copy and paste but made it VN related and none of you caught it.
sorry, but you can't have any visual novel live up to every single one of your expectations.

wwwwww

lol

I'm playing it in Japanese. Shit's weird man.
http://renai.us/ has some good stuff, but Sturgeon's Law applies hard.
Hay guise,
so I bought JAST's translated Demonbane (in before me being called a sucker), and noticed the back claims it's "from the creators of Phantom and Chaos;Head" ...
Capitalization issues aside, I don't remember Chaos;HEAd being a Nitroplus production - wasn't 5pb the guilty party? Or are they part of Nitroplus?
Incidentally, I really enjoyed how the Demonbane setup program gave me no option of changing the install directory. I just love cluttering my system partition.
>>85
It was a collaboration between Nitroplus and 5pb. I'm not sure exactly what Nitroplus contributed to it, I'm pretty sure none of their in-house artists or writers were involved.
did you guys do shuffle?

can anyone post good visual novels, that aren't just porn games but are worth while? Maybe some kind of detective crime genre, that would've been nice.
>>93 I recently really enjoyed The Silver Case. Recommended if you want detective crime but also something really weird.
Saya no uta is a good baby's first "aren't just porn".
Is original tsukihime playable on android? Quick search told me that there is VNDS that had some bugs to it 10 years ago, and onscripter plus which I'm not sure will work.
>>96
When I check the discord for android visual novels, according to a random person it does work on onscripter plus. Don't expect it to run perfectly though.
>>95
it is just porn everything about saya is porn
It is such a good porn, calling it "just porn" is insulting
Chaos head, steins gate, higurashi, daganronpa,
>>100 this brings me back to happier times ~5-10 years ago when everyone was excited about these things
>Furry Shit
>Good
Check out Baldr Sky instead. Steam release was censored, search for restoration patch. Also steam release swapped name order, really annoying, I prefer original japanese name order.
remind me to play 神咒神威神楽
