Other Notes
Run the game with the anchor.exe
Don't paste updates onto old versions unless you like unpredictable bugs.
Extract separately and move the old 'sav' folder into the update.
If you see a wall of errors on startup, switch to 7zip for extracting.
If it's an old game, try pasting in the anchor exe from TW.
You can change the amount of lines you scroll with mousewheel, I always change it from default 1 to maximum allowed 10.
If you are to play eratohoK and know japanese, don't forget to reenable untranslated content in options, replaying this game a second time is a pain in the ass. Translators added an NTR option because they are too lazy to translate those, even if that game didn't had that option originally.
If you are to play eratohoTW, don't forget to enable pregnancy. There are at least 2 people around that worked very hard with it disabled.

Updated TW, it seems they improved the cooking system. Just having porn isn't enough for them, they added food porn too.
Those games are godsend for touhoufags, but megami tensei / persona fags probably going to enjoy their thing even more. I know that porn text games are the lowest of the low, but they are surprisingly meaty and longlasting. I guess decade of development does that to you.

Played eratohoYMAEM for a bit, feels more rapey than other variants. It also feels more like a game and closer to the roots than some others. Some variants like eratohoK or eratohoTW evolved away from some aspects, some systems aren't really used there even if their traces remain, like pain marks that are almost impossible to gain. While eraSQN, eraSumireTeru, and eratohoYMAEM stay closer to their roots of slave trainers, playing them makes you understand other era games better.
Not sure if fear marks are bad or not, apparently they make the slave more obedient but makes love route harder, and positive traits raise slower. I'm training them to sell them anyway, so does it matter? Having a girl tremble in fear just from me entering her room feels neat.
I'm thinking of making my own variant, I want to model emotions a bit better, I want some emotions to override others, so that fear and arousement would fight each other for example. This would make mood swings possible, it would feel more human.
Man, the popup help in K and TW is much faster than finding the talent you need in a separate menu in YMAEM. I liked how one of the talents there is "Dead".

I kinda want to rewrite emuera in C++, so that games don't take 20 seconds to load and don't eat 2 GB to run. There are few theories on why it is like that:
1) overuse of abstract classes everywhere, this is another reason to hate OOP
2) arrays in this game always allocated in the full size (1000 elements), so 2d arrays always take 1000000 of space, and 3d arrays 1000000000 of space.
3) every image the game uses is loaded at the program start
I am not sure which theory is more correct. There was an attempt on updating emuera by some westerner (caled ERANT (era new technology, something like that), and there was an attempt on rewriting eratohoTW in python. Neither seem to be finished.
The original eramaker tool was written in... not sure what, but doesn't seem to be C#. Author bragged about it being able to run on windows 95, and it was nothing more than a console window. Yes, no images anywhere, no clicking around on buttons, nothing but typing numbers. Sounds horrible, but it is actually faster when you do lots of repetitive actions (fellatio, paizuri, fellatio, paizuri, cowgirl, repeat forever), harder to misclick. But apparently source code of that version was lost, one guy asked the author on twitter.
There is eramaker2, it seems to be a kirikiri based visual novel like tool. I don't know anything about it, if anyone has anything to say about this, please share. Era games are at their best when they are a collaborative effort, you can make a version of the game you personally like by throwing a bunch of "patches" people upload on japanese uploaders, adding new content to the game is as easy as downloading a file. Never tried it myself though, I only played versions from the wiki in the op, english maintainers do a somewhat adequate job of that.
Rewriting a program this big is something I am considering, but am afraid of actually attempting. I think I should spend this energy on writing my own games instead. Or write a text editor with code navigation for it. People use vscodium for it, but I dislike programs that use webbrowser as a base, even if I'm often too dumb to recognize it sometimes.

Discovered where the hell the farm is in that mountain bottom location. Discovered that thinking about planting anything there, but backing out of that menu still gives favorability to the girl near you without spending time. Understood how macros work, you right click the input field, and select the macro, something like (command_number1\n command_number2\n)*10. I can get any girl with this now pretty much. This game is falling apart, but in a fun way rather than annoying way.

I discovered that japanese IME from MS supports writing in vertical mode. So, I'm tempted to make an era-like game that uses it, just because it sounds funny, and as a proof of concept. Will go from top to bottom, and then from right to left. Will display arabic letters turned to the side, clockwise. Up-down will move cursor, right-left will scroll history. It will not use the standard control, so it will not display the black bar at the left, like current emuera does at the bottom at all times, and will probably make scrolling a bit smoother. Maybe will switch to drawing with direct3d instead of GDI.

in this picture, this is me trying to be clever and using a separate font there. Font height is 16 pixels, but every line is actually 17 pixels wide, I don't know why, GDI works like that, if I draw lines closer they will overdraw each other, unless I draw from right to left I guess. So that LV thing is actually two 8 x 17 characters, and one 1 x 17 black rectangle/line.
Also I'm trying to do all drawing and character processing myself instead of relying on any controls. I feel too lazy to actually finish it, because I need to do text selecting, double clicks, mouse and keyboard processing, shift-click, etc. Why I'm doing it, is, how emuera works right now, is there is always an edit control at the bottom of the window, always eating space even when you aren't typing anything. And I want this edit control to scroll together with the entire log, so that it disappears out of the view when you scroll somewhere to the past. If you remove that edit control you can get smoother scrolling, I'm pretty sure its presence is why you can't scroll at less than one line right now, because GDI doesn't know how to draw only top half or top quarter of the displayed string, only the entire string. Also I want to scroll through log by clicking top and bottom of it, this could be convenient.
I planned for a mini Document Object Model like thing, only to hardcode the looks instead. A bunch of "top" elements, containing "text", "image", "number", "paragraph", "vertical_split", "horizontal_split", "cell". Most of them had width and height, all "text" and "image" are just id of text and images stored separately, with maybe a few extra attributes like color, and numbers were the only thing to be stored without referencing anything external. Emuera does the easy thing and simply doesn't allow you to resize the window without restarting, but I want to be able to resize window. It would require partially rewriting the games though.

Does SumireTeru have a way to edit font size I haven't found? This one in particular doesn't seem to allow it from the Settings menu.
I've been using IntegerScaler as a workaround but it's not as comfortable as other Era games.
If you say it doesn't, then it doesn't. That game uses like 6 different fonts. Try changing your monitor's dpi or something.

I feel like I'm playing TW wrong. I'm trying to go for all girls at once, so that nobody minds me headpatting them whenever I want. But that kind of drowns me in text, I might be missing some details, impact isn't quite the same. Here is my strategy for this: <spoiler>Music performance when you have about 5 musicians around is a weapon of mass destruction, you get tons of favor easily. You can start headpatting girls once they have around 1000 favor and around 200 reliability, and as long as you skinshipped them at least once in the past. After that, I wait to get them to like me (1500 favor, 250 reliability), sleep, invite them on a date, max hearts and stars, return from a date to get first kiss and +15 love xp. After that, I wait for them to get them to love me (3000 favor, 700 reliability), and get to actual sex, you get +30 love experience at once if they were virgins on your first night. How I do actual sex, is I wait for them to get horny enough (by headpatting them at every opportunity, sometimes on a date), then wait for them to "I can't hold back anymore" state, then get to the room with them. If you give them initiative, they will not get tired as fast as if you were fucking them. Then when I get the opportunity, I swap positions often to get to around 100 love xp, after that they should be fine with you ejaculating into them even on dangerous days. After that pregnancy is just a matter of time, they will be increasingly persistent about having your semen in them every day, but you can help it a bit by praying for child at shrines and getting related archivements. That first kiss is optional, you can get 100 love xp in 2-4 days easily. I'm not sure how much do you need exactly, probably depends on a girl.</spoiler>

Apparently you can show pregnancy chances through debug menu, which you can access by pressing stars in the option menu in the english version. Hilariously, second pregnancy with Lily W had {pregnancy score: 5, needed: 3, max: 100}, while I still struggled with getting Lily B pregnant. I like the idea of Lily W being much more fertile than Lily B, this kind of fits their characters. Her first pregnancy came out of nowhere too, during our second sex probably. Nitori's second pregnancy was interesting, she refused vaginal sex for as long as it took for our first child to grow to adulthood and leave home, but it only took 3 attempts to make a second one as soon as it happened. She was delightfully forceful in the process, she was the one fucking me dry rather than the other way.
I dislike this time scaling with children growing up merely in a few years, feels too fast. But it still feels like forever, so maybe it's fine? If somebody is willing to make a game where kids take forever to grow up (and pregnancy to even get noticeable), and pregnancy chances to be less bullshit than in TW but still somewhat realistic (only a 80-90% chance of impregnation even after fucking raw for the whole year), I'm all for it. She is unable to resist and joins!". And even if one girl runs away, the rest will simply continue like it's nobody's buiseness, with no memory of them doing something like that, and gallons of semen inside, their partners in crime don't show up in the."known relationships" tab.

Apparently there are two Mai in TW. One is the winged witch that lives in human village, the one from pc-98 games, and the other is the dancer from one of the newer ones. And of course translators didn't bother to differentiate them in any way. They did bother to name moon Reisen as Rei'sen, weird, but as long as it works. I actually failed to do one of the request because I went to the wrong Mai once.
There are so many touhous, the CharRef is actually really really useful for doing various requests. By the way, I updated it a bit, but still haven't uploaded it yet. I can't get assed to remember names of newhus, most of them don't even have a dialogue written for them.
In TW, whenever you click "display image", it will go back to displaying only one character, how can I make it so it always displays 10? Opening display settings and clicking + 10 times every time is annoying. I just need to add a line like "characts_displayed = 10" somewhere, but I don't even know that variable's name.

Made to_utf8_bom.exe and to_shift_jis.exe. They convert all .ERB .ERH .TXT .CSV .CONFIG files in the folder they are in (and all subfolders) either to utf-8 with byte order mark, or to shift-jis. I know there are SHIFTJIS-B-Gone in python and ShiftJisFuckOff in C# at https://wiki.eragames.rip/index.php/Contributing , but my thing is in C++, uglier, smaller, and more polite.

If you know japanese, you are probably better off downloading untranslated versions, at least of eratohoK. You'd probably expect both versions to be indentical, but they added a "disable ntr" option into it and set it to off by default. I'm still angry about that, I haven't even noticed that option until I was practically done with the game. They just couldn't find anyone who is willing to translate those, and leaving quests that can make one of your generals leave untranslated is bad news. Should've just added "do you know japanese?" "do you want to disable untranslated ntr quests?" questions when you start the game at least. It has its own issues, ntr isn't as effective if you expect it, just like with jumpscares. I tried translating one of them, it took me about 10 minutes per line, I was confused about should I use "I" "You" "He" or "She" in some of the parts, and also narration kind of switched to first person female perspective narration at one point, and I just couldn't get bothered anymore. Neither japanese nor english is my native language, I shouldn't be the one to translate that. Also half of prolikewoah.com/hgg/ posters are incredibly annoying faggots, even 4chan isn't on that level, probably. 4chan has an annoying captcha instead, "pay to post".

When people say that harvest moon has dating sim elements, what they actually mean is it has romance elements, because harvest moon is a simulator of living on a farm, and romance is a very damn important part of living in general.
