How normal is it?
Is it normal to sleep with a friend of the opposite sex? How do you feel about it?
Does sleeping with a friend of the opposite sex entail any interest from either side? or can it be completely platonic - where there is no interest beyond friendship?
I'd like to know what you think, but if you could, i'd also like to know what culture you identify yourself with.

And yes, I think if you sleep with the opposite sex, there's more than 80% chance that either side has feelings - or potential feelings - for the other.
There's only two reason you should be sleeping with a girl.
1) You're gonna bang her that night.
2) You've already banged her.
There's no such thing as platonic sleep-overs. If someone says they want to sleep with a friend of the opposite sex, they almost certainly have feelings, even if they deny it.

Now this I think is muddled thinking.
Especially the "platonic" part. That two people would want to fuck each other is one thing, but why must you people always attach vague terms like "feelings" into the formula? I always say there is no such thing as platonic love, and I stand by that. The dualistic notion of romantic and platonic love is spawned from the need to bind together sex and marriage (or sex and love) two completely different and often incompatible concepts. Love is all about intimacy and understanding, sex is all about exoticism, personal distance, and maybe danger; the thrill of the unknown.
And then people wonder why married couples get bored of each other.
So two friends, regardless of their sex may want to sleep together, it probably DOES mean they "have feelings" for each other, does that mean they want to fuck each other? Not necessarily, and why should it?
You find some other way to sort out your penises and vaginas, but please stop confusing sex and love.

I forgot to mention that when I say "sleep with" I meant it to mean "sleep in the same bed as a person without any sexual contact" So basically I have the same idea as you.
Two people can have sex without any romantic interest in each other. Sure. But if a guy says he wants to sleep in the same bed as a girl, he's just trying to get in pants. There's no need for you to sleep in the same bed as a person who is just a friend.

I guess in a way my question could be reworded to say "is there such a thing as platonic love between a male and a female", since I've heard discussions and debates about it so many times I don't know what to think and worried that my mind has become confused by all the arguments.

And as to your question yes there is, but today's culture conflates love and sex in such a way that makes it difficult to find. The closest thing might be love of fathers for their daughters or mothers for sons. We consider that "platonic" because of the Westermark Effect, but I always thought that was bull. Love is love, don't complicate it.
