for a while i have been unable to access the shanachan.org and when i sent them an email it bounced. does anybody know what's up with the site?
kiddy porn happened
Yet another nail in the coffin of oldschool chan culture. There aren't many left now.
Chans were a mistake.
That's sad! I still wanted to appreciate post modern furniture!
I don't know why www.shanachan.org is down. But there has to be a reason it was taken down for some kind of reason....

surely just deleting that should fix any issues?

There's been an update recently. You used to be able to ping it but now it's unreachable.
>>11 There was a lot! I'd see it on the front page every now and then so I offered to help as a janitor, and realised that's it's pretty much a constant stream; it also seemed that whoever was posting it sometimes waited till you'd deleted them all and posted more when you went away. It didn't seem like there was much but I think the mods were constantly deleting it, like full-time
I visited shanachan for years. It really sucks that they just took the site offline without any notification. So much content was lost.
Is this thing about illegal content just a rumor or did the mods or owner actually say that is why it was taken down?
There are so many better ways of dealing with a bad poster than deleting an entire website.
On another note, is there any way of getting ahold of the owner or admins of shanachan? There were a few sets I wanted to save but didn't get to it. I would like to get a copy of the threads so that I could save the stuff I wanted.
I know what you mean, I had been using /m/ partly to bookmark the best denpa tunes I'd found so I didn't lose them in a sea of moonspeak on my computer... I hear songs I want to listen to but I can't find them again!
Email was just shanachan@shanachan.org

I have been debating emailing myself, be sure to let us know what comes of it. I suspect your going to get an undeliverable message.
No I'm too shy
too shy for what?
>>19 To email a site owner, that is beyond my limits...
You're right. That's the first thing I tried soon after the site went down and it bounced back at me
shit... still nothing
I am surprised the owner hasn't posted anything about it anywhere
Can anyone remember what the denpa song I posted was where the hook up into the chorus felt like she was pulling you up by the scruff of your neck? I want to listen to that 6 times today
I wish I knew what had happened to it. In the meanwhile, is there any similar place we could go, beyond 4chan? I don't have any sites that match Shanachan's easy, casual pace.

I think it's gone. The IIchan/Wakachan culture is gone. What hurts me the most is that the site owners could not post a goodbye message to let us know what's going on. If they could start up something like a twitter account for the sole purpose of explaining what happened, I would feel closure for the end of the community.
https://bienvenidoainternet.org/0/ reminds me of /z/ but I think it's in Esperanto
>>25 It was "画面からね出るなんて、無理っ!" by my darling Momobako!
>>27
Awwww, I think that's really sad. I'm a little slow to be keeping up with the likes of a place like 4chan, and shanachan was a perfect fit. Not sure where I'll go now.
>>32 When soviet russia.org went down for a similar reason some of its boards migrated to shanachan.org, I don't know much about it beside that

The UI is Esperando but the posts are in Spanish.
ShanaChan, Rest In several archives scattered around the internet
Fuckin' shame that its gone
what archive is best though in terms of number of pictures? the wayback machine was disapoint

I used sovietrussia so much back in 2007-2010. I would post my module music I made on there since it had a semi-active group of tracker users.
Now there's nowhere for me to talk with other people who use trackers. The whole scene in general just fucking died when 2010 hit and I don't know why. The only other people I've come across since are retro junkies who only use them to replicate NES style or Renoise users who overproduce everything.
I just miss sharing my crappy modules with others and them sharing theirs back. Small communities just cant exist anymore.
