Yeah, forums are basically dead for now, for better or worse. People moved away from public forums to private groups and towards "anti-sharing" posts (i.e, social media where retweeting/reblogging/etc. is not the primary focus or discouraged). Even though it's weirder and different and I missed the cultural shift, I think it's for the best.

It feels like the initial problem forums were created to solve was "how do I find new people to talk to?" and now people have realized that there's too many people to talk to, and now the problem is "how do I find the RIGHT people to talk to?" and keeping trolls/shitposters out and maintaining group cohesion. I think it's only natural for that shift to happen as more and more people are on the internet.

In any case, I still like posting here. Any form of social media is really only as good as the time you have interacting with others on it.
