So I can see how much activity there has been when next I check in 6 months from now

This is now the gay thread. Any post after this one will be gay.

thread salvaged. turned a total kuso-thread into one that could make someone giggle
It's probably one in ten that you will walk again.
You will be decapitated after being incapacitated.
What a load of crock, and what a crock a' shite.

You've never actually checked news4vip or nanj or kenmo or whatever board these places were based on?
if people spent half as much time posting as they did complaining about their not being posts this site would be 90x faster

If we actually had the activity levels of Japan, it would be a totally different situation. But as it is, long (high-quality (?)) threads is really the way to go (and one of my favorite things about anonymous boards).
I think I made this thread but I can't remember. It feels like something I would have said though, I remember coming back here for the first time after a few years' textboard hiatus around 2019.

It's a model that leads to stagnation, just having the same threads over and over where the replies are supposed to conform to the same mold as the OP. How many parts of Post Your Thoughts do we have already? How many of those posts could've easily worked as standalone threads?
On the other hand, it's what 4-ch is known for. If anything I dislike that other newer textboards are imitating this model more than 4-ch doing its own thing.
all tripcode posters burn in hell
I respect your opinion but I've never understood people who share your opinion. If you don't like tripcodes then don't use them. If someone else feels they need to use one then that's okay.
I sometimes feel that tripcodes are necessary in situations where the "ID" feature like we have on this site is not used/implemented and the person has multiple posts that need to go together. It's nice to find a decent post that's long and interesting but it's hard to follow all the thread authors' posts/comments on the thread when trolls are chiming in too.
So in situations like the above example I like to have tripcodes available to allow the thread author to communicate everything they have without trolls messing up the conversation.
