A commonly agreed reference point in shared memories with others or a point in the continuum that is your personal experience?

2006 we had Tokyo Drift. Michael Schumacher last year on F1. Before 2007 economic crisis. Before smartphones were less prevalent. Future looked better, probably because the upcoming crisis was not materialized. We also had less information about how utterly corrupt organizations and some people in them really are. I think anime was best too, we had less matured tastes back then(2006) thinking Death Note was any good. The collective consciousness on Google was cooler too. Bodybulding forums were beginning to hit mainstream teenager culture. Need For Speed Carbon... And NFSU2 wasn't too old. Counter Strike 1.6 competitive scene. Emo scene morphing into pre-hipster scene.

I think 2006 might've been the last year trance was relevant in the mainstream before it got usurped by fidget and electro house and later the EDM wave of bigroom and brostep.

I prefer living in this future world that the vast majority of humanity couldn't even fathom. The tricks to understanding and thriving within this current future reality is:
1) Study your history
2) Learn the basics of what is money, what is business, and the fact that investing is a team sport, not a solo sport
3) Whenever you own a computer, accept nothing less than software that respects your freedom i.e. free software/user freedom respecting software

I forgot what I wanted to post.

And I just remembered.

Convenience store aesthetics, remember how it was in the early 00's and even in 2006? It was because of branding and because of the packaging coming from suppliers. Vendors changed something because I know the aesthetics do not look the same. Once again something beloved dies in the name of convenience and minute increase in profit margins.

Like chocolate bars and that business practice of making it a tad smaller while maintaining the price. We went through 3 or 4 downsize cycles already while paying the same.

The aesthetics of cars passing on the street changed too, like everything, evolved. Because of time. Dammit.

Have you seen how smart kids are these days because of this minecraft thing
