I can't access 4chan from my home computer, but I can access it through Tor and proxies. Searching the web, I found out that people from India find the same problems, but because their ISPs blocked the sites.
I use Astound Broadband. Does anyone have any clue what happened? Should I call them and ask what the heck is going on? Tor and proxies are really slow and unreliable.
I hear some UK ISPs started blocking it too. You should probably call them. You know, freedom of speech and all that, plus it's not their job to filter the net for you.
First, make sure that the problem isn't on your side. (Maybe your router is doing strange things, like importing blocklists from the net? Maybe some antivirus/peerguardian type software is protecting you from 4chan? Maybe some piece of Spyware is running wild?)
If you are pretty sure that you are not the cause call them. If you find out that they are in fact blocking stuff, change the ISP and tell everyone you know to not use that ISP. After all, you don't know what else they are blocking, do you?
If changing the ISP isn't an option, I recommend trying to find a way to get around the block in some way that does not require proxies. (Maybe they only block DNS resolution? Maybe they only block DNS resolution on their own servers?)
Perhaps 4chan blocked you?
Perhaps you shouldn't care?

lol, I'm bored so I'm reading 4-ch from my school library.
Clicked that because I was curious and I get:

seriously, if you pay fully for ur internet, you should also have full acces to the internet.
if my 4CHON was to be blocked i would fuckin call my ISP provider and yell at them with all the might i got.
it would be like:
HELLO!!! I! AM! A! SUBSCRIBED!!!! USER!! OF! YOUR! SERVICES!!! AND I!!! JUST! HAPPENED TO NOTICE! THIS! STRANGE! LITTLE !!! FREEDOM! TAKEAWAY! OF! A! PROBLEM!!!!
>>11
have fun yelling that at the british government
>>7
Net neutrality means the government controls the internets, so they can block any sights they want. Means you can't change ISPs to access 4chan.
>>13
Complete bullshit.
Net Neutrality is simply a concept that says that no provider should differentiate traffic by where it comes from or of what type it is. Nothing more. Nothing less.
The only thing the government is supposed to do is to legislate the way different providers exchange data, and forbid them from doing too much filtering and priorizing (Which, to some extent, is obviously neccesary if you want the internet to work).
>>15
Agreed, actually.
Only /b/ was blocked by the UK ISPs. It was moot who ended up banning all those on BT and NTL from the other servers hosted on IMG.
BT and NTL use the cleansweep system, and in the July and September updates it listed 4Chan's /b/ as being a source for CP due to the paedophile scum that flood the board occasionally. BT and NTL eventually reverted the ban after a number of subscribers complained that 4Chan had been wrongly blocked and that such things were impossible to prevent due to the nature of the website.
I think this was part of the reason that Moot introduced the reporting system across 4Chan.
I decide you should pay me 1,000,000,000Yen, don't want to? Then goto freeloader hell!
Funny thing is my school blocks /c/, /d/, /h/ and /s/, but not /b/. Sometimes I block all images from .4chan.org/ and post on /b/ from class!
damn, my isp blocked 4chan.org for me too..
ndo SUCKS <_<
i'm really starting to get pissed with the britiish government.
so far most proxies are freaking banned.
What. The BT block is over.
>>21
Yeah...really freedom of the internet you poor UK people have over there.
Malaysia is having the same problem it seems
>>24
4chan's down for everyone. See status.4chan.org.
wow, this sucks
At least we still have iichan/wakachan.
flushdns
I have worries that 4chan.org NSFW might get labeled as "child pornography" by this 3rd party organization that is supposed to label the internet as CP or NOT CP. And my ISP, comcast, has said that they will stand by this 3rd part org's suggestions and block all the sites it labels as CP. (7 other ISPs have also said the same)
tl;dr: OMGZ WHAT IF MY ISP BLOCKS 4CHON NEXT!!!1
tl;dr the tl;dr: u tk him 2 da bar?
Comcast is a trash ISP, god I wish my state had other options for high speed internets
LOL, my college blocked my blog but let me view all of 4chan. My blog had a post saying fuck that college, and /b/ has CP. They even blocked Google once. They're obviously out to protect students from using email and stuff, but are willing to provide them with 4chan. I laughed my ass of at it.
my school blocks 4ch for porn... i've not SEEN it, but the sexuality section definitaly has "adult or inappropriate material" in text.... ha ha they blocked it for the wrong reason
I'm bored and upset, something must be done. JUSTICE LEAGUE ASSEMBLE!
Bumping a thread made in 2006
It's like digging up a time capsule. It is interesting to see the history.
at&t has temporarily blocked 4chan.org because they believed that it was under a ddos attack or some bullshit like that. I cannot currently connect to 4chan and it is pissing me the fuk off. So what can we do about this... I believe we need an alternative sight were /b/rothers can go to discuss some retaliation. ne1 got 1?
>>13
while this may / may not happen under the guise of 'net neutrality' that's not really what the term means..
>>40
reported again. told you not to bump old threads.
>>41 Why is it wrong to bump old threads if the conversation is completely relevant. I don't do this on purpose I start from the top and work my way to the bottom. It just happened to be all the good threads aren’t brand spankin new. Is that such a big crime?!

oh shit sorry.
>>42-43
if you're not adding anything new and interesting, don't bump the thread.
I wonder if anyone will ever see this post.
Feels eerie. Like walking into ruined houses and looking at the letters inside.
>>46
I did. Only a little over a year later. Now how long before some poster visits this thread next?
