Which one do you use or like better? And why? O:
I use Firefox because it's a lot more widespread... plus I love all the addons and plugins for it, Chrome is getting there, and it's a little faster, but nothing beats good ol' Firefox IMO
IE
Chrome, and Firefox for Rikaichan since the Chrome version still lacks name database support and can't read from text boxes.
Firefox and chrome are both good browsers. Chrome tends to be faster to open and suck less memory. Chrome has an opensource version for those that don't know, it's called "chromium".
My main browser is still firefox.
My main is chrome ... because i love that speed.
uname
Firefox. Good lord people don't you value your privacy.
>>7
Do you compile it from source and remove all the tracking shit, or do you not value your privacy?
>>8
What "tracking shit", exactly?
The only scary part of Firefox that comes to mind is its Google-based defaults. They really should add them to a dialog box somewhere, but as it stands you can easily change them through about:config
.
I mainly use Opera. ;_; is alone
>>10 You are not alone. I tried convincing my partner to convert to Opera and for absolutely no reason, he refuses. "FIREFOX IS OPENSOURCED AND HAS LOTS OF TOOLS YOU CAN ADD LIKE AN ADBLOCK."
Opera 5ever. <3 You're not alone 10-san, you're never alone.

sync, crash reporting, performance data reporting, update checking, blocking reported attack sites and blocking reported web forgeries... and those are just the ones they tell you about.
firefox, i prefer it over chrome because of issues i have with google's policies on tracking etc.. however i have a chrome based browser called 'iron' which claims not to track. i still prefer firefox
I tell people not to use Chrome for the normal reasons of the built-in spyware and such, and they look at me like I'm crazy or some shit.
At some point during the early 2000s, spyware went from something that everyone furiously fought against with anti-spyware programs, to a feature.
Firefox people, really. It's made by a non-profit foundation whose intent is to make a better web for everyone. Chrome is made by a for-profit corporation whose intent is to datamine your behavior for money.
>>16
The only tracking is through Google's services, which are opt-out (though I admit they don't make it easy, you have to use about:config
in some cases).
That's more than I can say for Chrome.
>>19
The last two, yes, which are opt-out.
The others are opt-in. Firefox also lets me download malware, but that doesn't make Firefox malware.
>>20
Update checking is opt-out in Firefox, not opt-in.
Exactly what tracking is present in Chrome but not in Firefox?
>>22
Firefox's on-by-default update checking is equivalent to all of those except the omnibox and page not found suggestions. Those two can be easily disabled before they send any data.
I wish Mozilla would cut all ties with Google now that Google have their own browser. Even if Google still contribute financially, they should not be allowed special favours in return.
I want something like the browser choice feature in later versions of Windows. When I first run Firefox, it should ask me questions like, "Who do you want to be your search provider?" and, "Do you want to use Google's Safe Browsing service?"
Chrome has some great extensions.
I use AAReadable in the AA Bar: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/aareadable/omooelimgkbkdfnnciofhjoopichcbok
and this is great for threadwatching:

Did you know that some malicious websites actually DON'T serve viruses to Chrome users? That's because Google detects and blocks those sites ruthlessly. And it does this quicker than the most antivirus companies.
Tracking hippies are a funny lot.
seamonkey is better
The fact that this discussion is still going on is just ridiculous. Pretty much what all these threads consist of is just, "this browser is better."
And that isn't even remotely productive.

No one dislikes profiling out of some abstract sense of "security," that's a false critique.
Being on the watch for virus websites is the flawed "antivirus" approach.
FireFox. Only because it continues off NetScape.
surf is the best graphical browser
elinks is the best text browser
Since Firefox has apparently made an iOS counterpart, why not talk about mobile browsers? Does anyone use the Internet on their phones?
The one advantage of Firefox, a wide array of extensions, is removed in a mobile app, so I don't see why the project even exists.
>>39
mobile firefox does support extensions, which is pretty much the only advantage it has over chrome. i use firefox for tumblr (with xkit), and chrome for everything else.
Actually, I don't believe mobile Firefox will support extensions. Apple forced Mozilla to build their mobile app off of the same engine as Safari, which is why the former CEO of Mozilla was so reluctant to create a browser for iOS in the first place.
>>41
i use extensions (xkit and adblock plus) on mobile firefox all the time.
>>42
Are you using iOS?
>>43
of course not. if i were, i'd be stuck with a shitty firefox-themed safari, rather than actual firefox.
I thought it was obvious that I was talking about the iOS browser
