Seems like some guy on 4chan's /g/ made an old school BBS, as in, telnet board. It's focused on /g/ and it shows, but it's still a nice romp down the memory lane.
Telnet to gopher.su at port 1234, sysop is usually present in chatroom 18.
nice
I saw this a few months ago, I had a lot of nostalgic fun. BluX is a cool guy.
I checked it out, it's nice, but pretty empty. BluX is a funny guy, but he's still a weirdo.
Is it just me or is it down?
Being 21, I never even got to see what this kind of stuff was like.
It was cool while it lasted...
BLUX? WHERE ARE YOU?
it was up again like 2 days ago
It's back and hopefully to stay 24/7 now, I upgraded router and firewall.
Okay, >>8-san here. So it's working? Cool. Could someone explain to me like I'm five how to connect to/use it?
Open telnet client of choice (PuTTy for example), type gopher.su as address, 1234 as port and then FOLLOW THE ON-SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS, seriously, people, read them! Also, pressing H brings up interactive help.

one would think it's been said enough times already, but...
> port 1234
> 1234 as port
this means that port 23 probably won't work.
Not a fan of 4chan BBS
Too bad it's dead.
There's people there every so often, it's a nice place, very cozy.
Haven't tried the telnet BBS, but the gopher site is very nice. You just need Lynx or other gopher client (well there's web<->gopher proxy stuff, but that's just lame. :-)
Well I finally tried this telnet BBS today but it's not working. "telnet gopher.su 1234" shows the login banner and asks for a name, but it doesn't let me hit Enter (and actually trying to type digits also doesn't work).
I don't have any kind of weird environment, just the default OpenBSD xterm and ksh. Also tried at the console (vt200) but the same exact thing happens.
>>23
I can't really help with your problem, but
> don't have any kind of weird environment
> OpenBSD
lol
But OpenBSD (and NetBSD) are about as close to POSIX as you can get!
Granted, not many people use it on their PC, but it's not "weird" as far as a Unix environment is concerned.
>>23
At this point, anything that isn't GNU/Linux or FreeBSD is "weird".
