Windows 2000 feels like such an obscure OS. Everyone prefers XP and 98. Even ME gets more chatter.
I guess 2000 has the use case of wanting the newest Windows that still has DOS.

'round my parts, 2k has a good reputation as an NT-based windows that doesn't have an interface designed for children. I've seen a lot of "Windows could be good if _____" rants that usually go along the lines of starting with 2k, then updating the driver stack.

2k was also very light on resources compared to XP. One of the biggest gripes with 10 is the lack of a classic theme, and even turning off animations just makes the modern UI look weird. LTSC is pretty much the closest you'll get these days, but the resource usage is still staggering.

I agree with this assessment, I never encountered anybody with a 2000 OS in real life, though I did meet many people with ME. A supposed flop, but I saw it way more in real life. I always thought Windows 2000 was an operating system only used by servers as a kid.

ME with a third-party patch is actually the last Windows with DOS

bbLean/bbZero will fix that

10's resource usage isn't that bad aside from Windows Defender
