What the title says

Probably the most active actual fansubbers nowadays are the ones that sub long-running shows for little girls that as a rule never get official streams, like Aikatsu, Pretty, Jewelpet, etc. A couple of them like Mezashite manage to keep up a weekly pace.

There are a few groups that fansub old '80s/'90s shit which hasn't already been subbed, but not many anymore and for some reason they aren't very fast

Most self-proclaimed "fansubbers" edit official scripts to 'fix' subjective translation issues and/or replace video files ripped from streams with higher quality raws.

Non-English fansubbers exist in abundance, but most of them just translate from official English subtitles since they work on the kind of popular shit that gets simulcast.

So yeah. The weeb equivalent of bronies are literally the only thing keeping fansubbing alive

I’d also like to interject that there’s some fansubbers who still do original subs but they are very slow at it. You can usually find them on AnimeBytes.
I’m sure you could find all the active ones if you dug around on AniDB.

The weeb equivalent of bronies in that they watch shows made for little girls, not in that they watch shows that are dangerously furry.

Kemono Friends isn't made for little girls, though for that matter it's also somewhat less furry than MLP (in terms of character appearances anyway.)
