The "Black Metal ist Krieg" album is surprisingly decent and I like my metal with a dose of humor, which Kanwulf delivers in spades albeit unintentionally.
Ugh. Black metal.
I tried liking it, but it never worked for me. Too much screeching and the musical talent of 90% of the bands was very poor.
So, here, have a sage. Enjoy.
Not all BM has bad screeching and terrible quality instrumentals. Some easier to like groups are Sigh (japanese), Wolves in the Throne Room (american), and Blut Aus Nord (french).
Even Bathory has some less harsh stuff if you listen to the albums he recorded in prison (one is way better than the other).
Black metal has to be approached from an almost punk like diy sort of perspective in which rawness is a virtue. I really laugh my ass off when looking at their pictures tho.
I like the idea of it more than the reality. (Musically speaking that is).
