my mom teaches piano from home and the noise bothers me (4)

My mom teaches piano from home so most days I'll have to listen to the piano for 2-3 hours and it drives me nuts. My family has a above-average sized home but there's not really any where I can go to escape the noise except the backyard, but I don't really have anything to do in the backyard. 2-3 hours doesn't sound like a lot but it's really annoying when you're really tired and just got home from school. I'm 16 so I won't be moving out for a while. I don't know what I can do about this issue, or if there even is anything I can do about it. Any advice on how to be less annoyed or to somehow reduce the sound or get away from it is appreciated.

Have you considered taking lessons yourself? Otherwise I'd just invest in a pair of good headphones, or convince your parents to pay for some extracurricular activity. Or do your homework outdoors!

Why don't you negotiate a time table? Instead of 2-3 hours straight she gives you 1 hour of silence in between so its not as intense. Maybe ask her to only start her classes an hour after you get home from skool?
