Bans and appeals (3)

It was pointed out to me here that Channel4 has not been enforcing any of the bans actually made by moderators or by the system. That is, at least since the transfer of servers almost two years ago. Yesterday I fixed this by enforcing the existing bans, but it is possible that some people have now been wrongly prevented from posting.

If you have been wrongfully banned, please email bps@arcturus.su and I will see that your ban is lifted. Already in 1 day I have received an email regarding this.

If you have any suggestions and so on, please feel free to post them here. I guess you can also appeal your ban here, but maybe you don't want to make your IP address public.

Oh, and for transparency I wish to describe the two methods by which somebody might get banned:

  1. An administrator (me) or moderator has banned you. This is usually due to spam.
  2. The system has banned you. This is because there is activity coming from your IP address consistent with a spambot or malicious WWW-crawler.

A ban results in the IP address being blocked from making posts on the entirety of the website.

And, I have removed the ban from the guy that emailed me today at 20.31 CET.
