amber, buun, and tanasinn CSS:
These themes set 'font-style: normal;' for em, and to detrimental effect, I think, since the em tagged text is not differentiated from the surrounding text.
(Although in the case of amber it seems unintentional, as it does specify bold weight and there simply isn't one--browsers today aren't as enthusiastic about faking bold as much as I remember them being).

Well, the inevitable "ass outta myself" test had to come to mind not long after, of course.
After testing out a mysterious function called "zooming in", it does appear more as though the bold on the amber theme is working, but is simply too subtle to reasonably spot while zoomed out on my ludicrously high DPI display. Basically, it's a flaw in the Chromium logic of how to fake bold in a font that don't have it.
Please develop an exterminator that hunts down and kills jakposters
Thank you for setting the default text formatting back to "WakabaMark" instead of the blank selection which broke the "Preview post" button.

Damn sorry wrong thread ^_^;
Is there a way to unattach an image on /img/? I tried to post something, but it had already been posted. I went back, and my text was still there, and the image had been removed. But, when I tried to post without the image, it said my captcha had timed out. So I went back and refreshed the page, but this attached my file again. I had to go back to the main page then open the thread again to post.
Make the front page display a random image posted in /img/

Please filter these urls, they get spammed in every textboard and have been posted here about 30 times.
Boss, I was just wondering, which part of my burger post triggered the spam filters? https://4-ch.net/img/res/4421.html#5123 I'm not complaining I was just wondering
>>16
I am also having problems when posting on /img/. I'm not adding any URLs, yet the anti-spam system triggers for all my attempts to post anyway. Is it possible that my IP address was blocked for some reason?

Should there be a News 4 VIP board?
I also think that The default names for the News 4 VIP board's name field would be VIPPER
and ssz, should it use the Buun theme to mimic the 2ch counterpart?
Why?
Those are all terrible ideas! You suck! Go back to one of your trendy fuckwit contemporary imageboards if you love them so much.
Killsushi is still alive?!!!

4-ch must modernize!
Embrace newfags, it's not like this place has much of a unique culture anyway.
>>39
Newfags are already welcome. What are you suggesting, not telling them to kill themselves when they talk about sussin troon jakson bussin cap fr? Accepting that kind of behavior will drive away the last remaining posters.
>>40
I got the impression a couple months back that the users of this website want to keep it a sekrit club
>>41 It's not that it should be a secret, just that new posters who ain't rockin with the vibe should get with the programme a bit. Lurk to see how things work then make interesting posts. Don't shit up the board with crappy posts and lamestream memes. I only half-agree with this, tbh I find it quite funny when some new guy makes crappy posts, when they don't really “get it”, and when they get burned for it. When they post with a tripcode, they run the risk of being marked by the regulars - I can't recommend it to amateurs :-P The posts themselves are annoying but the spectacle is a bit entertaining.
>it's not like this place has much of a unique culture anyway.
I think it does actually, I like it more than any other textboard and that's why I've been coming here for so long. Perhaps you haven't lurked deeply enough. There's a nuance that new visitors miss at first.
>>42
No I've lurked and I get it. It's a textboard and it's English. There's an emphasis on ascii and a hint of le oldfag culture. What I mean is there's rarely any actual discussion and most of the time people seem to post just to post.
>>43 That just sounds exactly like the kind of superficial impression that I imagined. 4-ch has a flavour not found in other English textboards I lurk. Not every post has the flavour. Some do, and then it's delicious. Some posts are trying very hard to capture it. I will taste them all
What if the [bracketed words] in thread titles were given a different color or random colors from a specific pallet? could be cute
As gay and useless as coloring IDs.
There was also some guy who suggested sortable subback.html columns; all of these would be great features for a KarehaX userscript or addon.
You could easily make that work server-side without javascript.
Wait, Kareha uses SQL, right??
>>5
Nope, only Wakaba does.
Surely other textboard software also uses SQL.
ok
I've always thought a cool idea for a textboard software would be to actually use title tags as functional tags that can be searched on a separate page showing all [TAGS].
>>10
That's what Ctrl-F on subback.html is for.
how about having an overboard to see the latest posts in all boards on the same page? 4-ch would benefit from it.
Not sure how practical it would be to implement, considering the shittiness of Kareha and the potential lack of unretarded developers, but it would certainly make the site feel less dead at times. Maybe it's possible to go the lazy route and just display the rss feed contents for all boards on one nice looking page.
i am a heron. i ahev a long neck and i pick fish out of the water w/ my beak. if you dont repost this comment on 10 other pages i will fly into your kitchen tonight and make a mess of your pots and pans
i would like to second this idea, or failing that, some kind of mess that would bold the links to boards that have had new replies since you last visited the site (either stored locally, or through some kind of browser extension)
>>4 Why not just look at them?
There is a userscript in the technology board webdev thread for seeing new replies ( https://4-ch.net/tech/kareha.pl/1637254723/37 ). It hasn't been updated for 2 years, but I am still using it. It can be configured to only fetch the boards that you are interested in. I think that's the ideal way to use it to prevent people from talking about things they don't care about.
I still like to just click and open boards though. It feels nice. It's like impressive suspense... you never know what you get. It can be nothing.. it can be something huge! but you don't know until you go look..... I like this feeling.
Attackers might be trying to steal your information from 4-ch.net (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).

Currently, if I open a bunch of boards the captcha will be the same in all of them. This allows me to make a bunch of posts with only one solution to the captcha. This seems problematic.
Why would you want to solve more captchas? Spam isn't an issue.
I just got a long word captcha I've had before, I started typing and autofill did the rest. Blessed.
I'm with >>1. While we're at it, any chance we could make the user experience more cumbersome? Maybe introduce a 10-second delay between actually sending the post after we hit the reply button, or have each reply have a 1/10 chance to randomly fail? Oh, and our captchas don't seem like they're benefitting some multinational corporation so that's obviously gotta change, shouldn't we be teaching self-driving cars or something?
>>1
It's a quirk of the software setup (independent kareha instances). Haven't seen anyone exploit it yet, and the current admin tools should be able to handle it.
>>5
Just out of curiosity, why does this occur? Are the captcha generated based on the current time or the poster's IP address or something? This quirk indicates they're only psuedo-random but how exactly are they generated?
>>6
IIRC pseudorandom; since all the installs have the same password and cryptographic key the nth captcha for a new IP is going to be the same for all of them.
Wait, can you actually make the posts >>1? If I have multiple threads open, they show the same captcha, but after submitting one post, the other captchas become invalid and I have to refresh the page to get a new one before I can post
>>9
Only if they're on different boards though, not in different threads within the same board.
>>10 Oh.
