Ever since the faggoty Harambeposter has been bumping up old threads nobody wants to post in, it destroys semi-active boards and turns them into wastelands. This entire fucking website has been destroyed by this annoying poster.
At this point, I don't see why all boards shouldn't just be deleted and have only 2 or 3 boards up.
I'd rather they be archived and closed than deleted. Otherwise agreed.
is there a previous copy that can be reverted to before the spammer struck?
I agree. Archive them and leave only 2 or 3 boards open.
Copying my post from DQN
There's one feature that might actually improve textboards. Index the front page dynamically based on the last non-saged post, allowing the page order to be restored after bump spam is deleted. There's not a slow forum around that wouldn't be improved by this. Backend mod tools and the previously mentioned bump spam negation are all that is needed. Ylilauta is one of the few sites I know that actually does this properly.
Do this.
>>5 The owner of this site wont bother to write drastic new software. He simply doesn't care and doesn't listen to the communities outcry for help and advice. All he does is come on here once every month and delete 40% of the harambespam. He does not fucking care and it's getting on my nerves.
Ignoring the obvious hyperbole, I appreciate the issues being raised. Most of the spam comes through tor which could not be banned conventionally, but I have implemented a tor ban now with a blacklist that updates every hour.
As for writing new software, that is a big undertaking. I don't think anybody would be satisfied if the old threads were not migrated either.
Let me see how the tor blacklist goes. If we suffer more bump spamming and it continues to be too difficult to clean up by hand, I will make some command line scripts to do the job. Kareha is not the most easy-to-modify piece of software, so have some patience.

FUCKING BAN HIM THEN GOD ARENT YOU ADMIN?
lol faggot
I will start writing new software today. If you're a webapp coder and want to contribute you can join synirc #4-ch
the salt must flow
What the hell does that even mean?

It means you're better off ignoring anything they say, nothing more.

I also second this notion. I feel like there's barely any reason to leave most of the boards open with spam and "shitposts" drowning out all potential discussion.
if you're going on closing boards, why not just have two boards General and Images (and maybe DQN) or something? Pretty much all the other boards are dead as fuck.
I think Lifestyle and World categories should be archived. Maaaaybe Personal. The other categories have a handful of dead boards. Sports, Literature, Music, and TV could probably safely put to read only access.
Ultimately though, I don't think it matters. Just clean up the spam links ``KUDASAI''
Putting in some support for this while I'm here.
We aren't 2-ch, we simply don't have the userbase to keep a million narrow topic boards active. I feel like someone viewing the front page for the first time probably wouldn't know which board is the "main" one of this site. So what happens to a lot of new visitors, they either look at /general/ first and see that it gets like 3 posts a month, or they look at a strictly topical board like /anime/ or /food/ and see that the last non-spam post is from 2013, then write off the whole site as dead and never come back.
I'd suggest archiving every category but general and then removing them from the sidebar and just adding a link to the archive directory in their place. Inactive but important with respect to site culture boards, like /ascii/ or /nihongo/, could be left on the sidebar but put into read-only mode or something idk.
It would also hugely reduce the workload of our one moderator to not have to monitor a bunch of otherwise dead boards for the occasional japanese dating spam.
rape me pls
