Now, we know Tom is a creature of habit, and he was not wearing one of his usual air travel outfits when he was photographed today right around the time the jet took off (I think it was around the same time, correct me if I'm wrong). But I think you maybe get a false impression from him , and from the British press generally, about what that Eton/Oxford combination means. I know a lot of people who went to both, and they are almost without exception highly impressive individuals. That is not surprising when you consider the quality of those institutions. Eton is an incredibly competitive school to get into, and it is not just rich boys who go there - it offers £6 million a year in scholarships, which for one school is amazing. And Oxford is, according to the Times Educational Supplement, the second best university in the world (after CIT, and before Cambridge, Stanford and MIT). It offers some of the most challenging undergraduate degrees in the world, which are, like most outstanding courses, focussed on challenging their students' intellectual complacency rather than reinforcing it.
Sorry to get all serious for a moment. But I get frustrated by lazy British journalists moaning about the disproportionate representation of Oxford in the professions. When you consider its world standing as a university, it is not that surprising. Nor do you hear British journalists moaning about how rubbish it is that Hillary Clinton went to Yale and how elitist that is or how she is entitled, intellectually superior and complacent or whatever. I think I'd rather that the President of the United States went to Yale than the alternative.
Of course I accept that there continue to be access issues to Oxbridge, for which the Social Mobility Foundaton squarely blames the variable quality of state school education in Britain, and not the universities, which they accept are entitled to and do recruit solely on the merit of the individuals assessed at the time they apply. It is worth bearing in mind that the average number of state school pupils at Oxbridge is still over 60%, and that a lot of other universities such as Bristol have similar proportions, though they very rarely get mentioned in the press as being part of the same problem.
It will be interesting to see what he does with the IG. Perhaps it will be a repeat of the twitter acct: starts off with some personal stuff (TS, BTS info/pics) and then becomes all biz. Perhaps he keeps it all biz from the start because he's learnt his social media lesson (he's not learnt any lessons).

It is shocking to think that Trump has any higher education. But my point was a slightly different one. The nearest equivalent to Oxford/Cambridge is Harvard/Yale (at least traditionally - the pre-eminence of MIT and others in recent years seem to have opened up the field). But you don't see the American press bitching about the "Harvard/Yale bias" int HR same way as the British press goes on about the "Oxbridge bias."
My second point wasn't really about the other issue you mention (does he deserve his success given his advantages?). I was seeking to challenge the slight suggestion that TH is behaving like an entitled, narrow-minded wanker because he went to Eton and Cambridge. That he may well be, but it is despite his education and not because of it, in my view.

Also wanted to add that as far as his "authenticity" goes, I think the only authentic thing about Tom is that he really wants to be very well known and recognized in the mainstream. He wants the attention and it's clear from his public appearances that he relishes in it. It seems to me he's trying on different approaches to it. He did the serious actor stay mysterious approach for a while and it didn't work fast enough so now he's giving the public celebrity relationship approach a spin and it definitely gave him that recognition he wanted in the mainstream, just for all the wrong reasons. >>831 I think it all depends on when the Barnes & Noble employee's TH sighting took place. She posted her pic with TH on Instagram at 2pm on Saturday and she posts quite regularly on Instagram. But the TS plane took off from Burbank early in the afternoon on Saturday as well. The Jet Anon said that she was pretty sure that because of when the flight took off, that TH probably wasn't on it, but I wasn't watching. Does anyone know when the plane took off from Burbank? For the record, TH seems to able to fly commercially around the US w/o being seen by fans (his most recent trip from LA to NYC trip). We didn't know where TH was till he was spotted during lunch @ Balthazaar in Soho. By contrast, TH seems to always get papped at LAX when he leaves the country using the international terminal. Therefore, if the bookstore sighting took place early on Saturday, then he is probably in RH. However, if the bookstore sighting took place later in the afternoon, TH is probably lying low in LA, since it wouldn't make sense to the narrative if he and TS aren't together after 2 weeks apart. I guess we'll see!
When the SAG video comes out later today we'll see exactly what he said, which may still be a lie. Also, are we sure of where she is?
Jetanon said that the flight from Burbank flew to Groton, which is TS's airport for her Watch Hill, RH house. At the same time, her other plane flew from Groton to NYC and landed, and then continued to Nashville.
People are assuming that the plane dropped off her brother in NYC and her parents in Nashville. And also, assumed that TS stayed on in RH since the Burbank plane landed in Groton for sure. Would she let non family members stay at her house if she wasn't there? Probably not. So either TH was at B&N early on Saturday and flew to Groton on the Swift plane, or he's hiding out in LA, or he left for Brisbane on the very delayed Qantas flight last night. However, I have a hard time believing that TH could depart LAX w/o being papped by a fan or paparazzi. We'll see.
Or Taylor could've chartered a private plane for both of them out of LA or NYC to Australia under the radar. I don't know how Marvel would feel about that or any production for that matter. He's definitely laying low otherwise Sat Sun were prime pap stroll days and they didn't do anything.
I'm going out on a low, sturdy limb here: They are not together. Why? Because we've not seen them. Save for the lying low post #kimexposedtaylorparty, if they've been together, we've gotten pics. Even when they came back from Oz on the private jet, we got pap pics and hand holding at the private airport! At this point, no pictures = not together.
Were they together? Maybe. If she were on the plane that made the RI-CA-RI trip, then perhaps they had a few hours together. Up thread someone said it arrived late Fri and took off Sat afternoon. That's a wide enough window for some 'alone time.' But these two so rarely have alone time. Remember when we thought they were at Hillstones having quiet time (actual pic from a camera phone!), but then there was the article...and the pap pics and the sponsored tweets. Every bit of their 'alone/private time' has been bracketed by staged pap pics, professional photographer pics or articles.
As to lack of LAX pics. I thought when they first went to Oz that someone said that LAX had a specific terminal, area, underground tunnel/bunker (I forget the terminology used) which allowed celebs to come and go without being seen. The implication being that Tayto wanted to be seen leaving for Oz. True, untrue?

TH is a master in making his fans think nothing is going on. The final round of online voting for the Emmys started today, I doubt TH wanted to give his fans reasons not to vote for him.
The mess last night at LAX was, if he or they were trying to get out of town, a fortunate wrench thrown into strategy to lay low.

I'm confused about whether he's boarding her plane to go meet her or whether he's boarding a private flight for Australia. Considering he said he needed to be on a plane to Aus in 48 hours on Friday. Unless he was lying and he's spending this week with her. Or they're already en route to Aus together on a private flight.
