I heard about these series a lot, but I never had a chance to play any of games.
This is the only board where I'm not afraid to say that I know nothing about them.
Please, teach me how to get these games and, please, explain their popularity.

To get into Touhou you need nothing but commitment and it's always a plus to not have a life when it comes to games like these. Then you have to devote a couple of months on just trying to get through the game (whichever you have or something) playing Normal Mode (there's quite a gap between easy and normal [varies], so it's better to go through normal mode and just bite the bullet).

Each character have a hitbox, which is the little invisible magical box on your character, that counts the hits when colliding with the enemy bullets. You can get the Touhou Remodelling Pack somewhere, which makes the playing a tad bit easier by turning the hitbox visible.

You shoot with Z (as a default) and use bombs with X. Bombs kill everything in the area. You turn on the focus mode with shift and it slows you down, making bullet dodging and aiming a little easier.

Then you just go and shoot the living shit out of moe-moe characters and that's that.
