4chan is more for posting pictures or quick chatting, since everything gets deleted so quickly.

I agree with >>470 - 4chan.org emulates the Japanese site 2chan.net, which is an 'Imageboard' for posting images and discussing them - whereas 4-ch.net emulates the Japanese site 2ch.net, which is a 'Discussion' board for simple text discussion.
