I've never had a girlfriend in my life. I've asked lots of girls out, but none of them have ever said yes. Recently I met a girl who really likes me. There's just one problem... She's 12 years old. I'm not usually attracted to young girls, but she's the first girl who has ever shown any interest in me. I'm waiting until I get married (if I ever do) to have sex, so we wouldn't be doing anything illegal... My question is this: should I give up what could be my only chance to ever have a girlfriend because people might think I'm a pedophile, or should I go out with her and not worry about what people might think?

From the perspective of others, you WILL be looked as a pedophile and a sex offender which will end up with you in jail. Also, if you only have not met this girl in person, its a trap.
Yeah... if this is online, consider yourself already on the FBI watch list. If you are sexually advanced upon by anyone claiming to be underaged online, its almost certainly the police.
