This phenomenon does occur. For instance if I look on one bulletin board for my particular city, I will see two ads which seem to be advertising for someone exactly like the other person. I get the feeling that nobody reads the existing ads before posting their own, and extending this to the entire Internet, that nobody reads anything before posting their opinion anywhere.
