I do believe China has exaggerated in their claim of 300,000 deaths. However, it is likely that many innocent people died in the war - it's only to be expected when a large city is attacked.

The real solution is not to deny the past to make your country look better in the eyes of others, but unfortunately many Japanese ignore this. But I forgive them, because Americans and British have even worse history of killings which are silenced.

We can't have peace in the world until we all learn to forgive others' wrongs, amend our own, and never repeat the mistakes of the past.
