WAIT, no, my favorite is cigarette taxes.

When the plug was pulled on cigarette advertising, the people who used to make cigarette ads had to find something new to do. They're now in the business of making anti-cigarette ads. Taxes on cigarettes go up not because people are genuinely concerned, but because there's so much money in making the ads. They're basically pushing for more taxes to give themselves jobs. Notice how all of the tax revenue/settlement money goes to anti-smoking ads rather than to Medicare, where it could actually help mitigate the public health nuisance created by smoking.
