Vance obviously but there was also Riz Ahmed for The Night Of and honestly, Riz's Naz was absolutely amazing when compared to Tom's Jonathan Pine. Compared to People vs OJ and The Night Of, TNM seems like a very outdated show that was saved mostly by Olivia Coleman and Hugh Laurie. Tom's acting alone wasn't that strong. And I say that as someone who does think Tom is a good actor. His TNM performance simply wasn't that great when compared to his peers in the same category. That's why most are side eyeing Tom's win. And his bungled cringe speech (intentional or not) didn't help matters either. Especially not after summer of 2016 antics.
