4. Only necessary if it's not visible on the page (ie. more than five posts old on the main page)
5. Yes! - it's incredibly slow thanks to the awesome power of (what I can only assume to be) the flat text database, it's slow and loading the page can be interrupted entirely if someone else posts in the meantime.

Also, I feel a little as if too much "fluff" on the board will distract from the traditional BBS feel.
