Among some nations, such as the Persians and Russians, the married women take it as a token of love from their husbands to be soundly beaten. Barclay says of the Russian wives that they estimate the kindness of their husbands from the strokes they give them, and are never more happy than when they have met with a man of barbarous temper. He confirms it by a very singular instance, which I shall take the liberty of repeating. 'A certain fellow, Jordanes, if his name is of any moment in such a trifle, had travelled from Germany to Muscovy; there he settled and, liking the place, married a wife of the country. He loved the woman very much and, desiring by all means a mutual affection from her, observed her still melancholy, with downcast eyes, often sighing and betraying other signs of a discontented mind. But when her husband enquired the cause of her affliction, affirming that he was not wanting in love and respect, - "Oh," replies the wife, "aren't you a fine dissembler of love! D'ye think I don't know how despicable I am to you?" and immediately she fell into a fit of crying and sighing. The man, quite astonished, began to embrace her and ask in what way he had offended her, so that he might make amends in the future. And the woman answered: "Where are your blows and beatings, the proofs of your love? Sure it is that in this country they are the only proofs we accept." When Jordanes heard this, his amazement at first hindered his laughter, but soon after, when both were over, he thought it for his interest to use her as she had prescribed, and not long after took an occasion to beat her; and she, growing into good humour by the influence of the cudgel, from that time forward began to love and esteem her husband in earnest.'

We are all connected by something far greater. Memes. The DNA of the soul. They shape our will. They are the culture -- they are everything we pass on. Expose someone to anger long enough, they will learn to hate. They become a carrier. Envy, greed, despair... All memes. All passed along.

n 2005, Cromartie sued the makers of a film based on the manga/anime series Cromartie High School in Japanese court. The series does not feature Cromartie himself but does depict students who "smoke, fight with students from other schools and are depicted as ruffians" which he says defames his character as the school shares his name.

Prochlorococcus and other ocean phytoplankton are responsible for 70 percent of Earth's oxygen production. However, some scientists believe that phytoplankton levels have declined by 40 percent since 1950 due to the warming of the ocean. Ocean temperature impacts the number of phytoplankton in the ocean.

The one thing that might be said for societal collapse is that—for a while at least—everyone is equal. In 1915 an earthquake killed 30,000 people in Avezzano, Italy, in less than a minute. The worst-hit areas had a mortality rate of 96 percent. The rich were killed along with the poor, and virtually everyone who survived was immediately thrust into the most basic struggle for survival: they needed food, they needed water, they needed shelter, and they needed to rescue the living and bury the dead. In that sense, plate tectonics under the town of Avezzano managed to re-create the communal conditions of our evolutionary past quite well. “An earthquake achieves what the law promises but does not in practice maintain,” one of the survivors wrote. “The equality of all men."

My dude, modern day self-identified DSA/commie/antifa/social justice types consider themselves to be liberal. If you think liberal young people don't call themselves socialists or communists, you're living under a rock.

Like it or not, this is the modern face of liberalism in the west. It's getting increasingly extreme. But the fringe has become more mainstream.

Saying ``the only liberals are classical liberals'' is the political equivalent to wearing a fedora and thinking 1940s suits are all the rage. Things change as time goes on. You can't ignore it.

My youngest is about 18 months old. He has started blowing kisses to women he doesn’t know, but only if they’re attractive. When prodded to do so towards an unattractive woman, usually by his mom towards one of her fat friends, he refuses. The uglier they are, the more vehement his refusal. For some its just a refusal, and others it’s a turn of the head and up to tears. The reactions are priceless. From the mouth of babes, right?

Walking through a busy airport with him a week ago and he had a train of girls following us trying to talk to him, all the while batting their eye lashes at me and commenting “he’s so handsome just like Daddy”. My wife glared at them and made sure to stand a little closer to me. Later on, I made fun of her for it, then she gave me great head.

The head of a biomedical company who recently earned fame for injecting himself with an untested gene therapy has been found deceased, according a report by the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department.

While there is currently no word on the cause of 28 year old Aaron Traywick's death, the news draws fresh attention to his controversial work in a field known commonly as 'biohacking', and the potential risks of such low-cost DIY biological research.

Traywick's body was reportedly found face down in a sensory deprivation tank at SOULEX Float Spa in Washington DC at 11.31am on April 29.
