i want to eat less meat again so i'm learning some indian cooking. using no-refrigeration low-tech foods like legumes and ghee is also appealing, but i'm fixated on pre-modern life in general so that might just be me.
after looking through a lot of crap recipes (and the other extreme, innovative recipes that implicitly assume knowledge of the basics of south asian cooking) i finally found a book i would recommend which is 660 curries by raghavan iyer. (the title is a lie; it is a general purpose indian cookbook including chutneys, sambars, etc and explicitly mentions which recipes are from which part of india)
does anyone here know other good south asian cookbooks?
