[WHAT IF] you had 900,000,000 USD to donate to anything, what would it be? (18)

Now, you cannot spend it yourself, it's not yours, you can only donate it to causes or organizations.

What will it be? A political thing? Cancer research? SPACE?

I'd split it five ways, one fifth going to Debian, the second fifth going to Mozilla, the third fifth going to the EFF, the fourth fifth going to the ACLU, and the last fifth going to Doctors without Boarders.

well, 900m usd is just too much,, i feel like its much better to just balance the amount of the money depending on how bad is the need of the donor, like for example giving $200thou to some random org, then again to another giving $100thou it varies depending on how do they really need it, and with this you can help much more needy..

Open source developers (but not activists, get a haircut you hippies).

Probably:

  • freedesktop.org, so they hire some folk to finish up Wayland and their open source graphic drivers;
  • Mozilla, with a kind note asking them to stop focussing on "user experience" and implement more standards;
  • OpenBSD, so they can host larger hackathons and release a stable OpenSMTPD at last;
  • Debian, they need more package maintainers;
  • suckless.org, since they make good software.

Most of these depend on volunteers so my money would probably go to a new server rather than improving development speed/quality, but I'd like to think I helped give things a push. Sod diseases and poverty and all that bollocks.

Organisations come and go but nations only evolve.

I'd give $150m each to China, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and South Korea.

Hopefully one of them would be kind enough to donate me a beautiful young woman in return :3

They'd spend it on weapons, then some of those nations very well come and go.

I would divide it amongst different animal sanctuaries.

If you did donate ALL of it to space research, think about the amazing implications! Although, that goes for biochemistry too.

I would donate it all to an organization that could eventually connect my brain to the Internet. I just want to live in the Internet. Is that so bad...?

I wouldn't donate it. I'd just let it rot in the donate-only bank account.
Or maybe I'd try to scam people and say "I'll donate once my account says 1,000,000,000" and then pocket the extra
