It's impossible to steer a hierarchy of people without people submitting to authority. In a violent society, the strong people would torture and kill the weak people, while the weak will work as slaves. This is forced cooperation rather than voluntary cooperation. It's non-sense to generalise human societies in this way. Human societies who live under the basis of this violent fear are inherently unstable as long-term system of social growth and are inherently self-destructive over the long-term.
A small society of individuals who are living in the wilderness and are not cooperating can not be a society that lives a long life.
