I’m pretty sure the Ruskies read their Marx and rejected bourgeois charlequinnism. That’s not where the Soviets fucked up though. Russian style planned economies don’t work, a group of guys sitting in around a table can’t plan the entire economy of a massive country, getting rid of markets is a bad idea. The Soviets put too munch money into the army, they floated their dying economy on oil and gas sales, and they spent too much time building an autocratic state that they gave up on the whole withering away promise and they stopped caring about the average worker.

You can’t build a big government and then act surprised when it starts taking away your rights. Lenin didn’t realize this obvious fact.
