In regards to activity I guess
4chan.org
It's Iceland, or the Philippines, or Hastings, or...
...or this place!

I suspected as much but there has to be something in the vast multiverse of the internet
4chan used to have a bunch of textboards way back
9channel

oh wow this comment right after you started talking about yourself in another thread https://4-ch.net/general/kareha.pl/1681322090/54
sure is a coincidence...
I'll always remember this one video of Chechens slitting the throat of a Vatnik.
Also in the days of Rotten.com I recall a photo of a dead body of someone who hung themselves but it was taken probably a week after, so the body was all black and the neck was stretched.
After that, nothing really bugged me.

most active 2ch-like boards are this place, heyuris /lounge/ and saovq. Pick whichever suits your tastes the best
Damn...did they get rid of them? I haven't really been active on 4chan since 2015 at the latest.
That's too bad. I used to like them even though they had a lot of low quality shitposters. I lost interest in 4chan as an imageboard when /pol/ was created...even more so now because every thread ends up being arguments and racial nonsense no matter the topic. That's just "cringe" to me. The culture has been destroyed.
At least this is still around, along with other small communities. I hope the admin never closes it - and if he does, I hope he'll let someone else take the reigns.
I wish there was a 2channel equivalent. 4-ch is ridiculously slow, it makes small alt chans seem fast by comparison. I just want an anonymous BBS where we can discuss everything from hacking to cooking. Aside from that, this place is perfect.

/pol/ ruined the internet.
Reddit is as close as we'll get to a fairly text focused online community forum in North America at this point. The internet has simply evolved too far, which isn't always a bad thing. Textboard BBS websites are huge in Japan but they're a fairly unique anomaly. And in time, I suspect they'll die out too.

Yeah, Reddit has that 2channel feel with the mix of being a mainstream normie accessible site but also a hive of weird internet cultures. But it all feels too gentrified now. Subreddits really don't feel like communities the way internet forums or chans do. It's pretty soulless and barren and like 4chan the moderation is arbitrary, but in this case it's excessive. Aside from the upvote system and the annoying way in which threads are organized, the worst thing about Reddit is the insufferable site culture.
Reddit is a for profit company with all the corporate bureaucracy, whereas sites like 2channel and 4chan were just regular websites started up and run by just a handful of people with a lot of back and forth with the user base. That's 90% of the reason Reddit sucks shit and doesn't have the charm of older forums and imageboards.
If you want an English alternative to 2ch that isn't 4-ch or world2ch, feel free to make your own Kareha style textboard. Good luck finding users for it outside Japan though.

Reddit mods are currently on strike, maybe this is the moment textboards finally have their time to shine!
loljk, when pigs fly
RIP 4-ch
