OK here is the plan, I want to install a windows/linux based pc in my car for personal entertainment and gps etc..
I'm panning on using a combination of desktop and notebook components depending on price and performance and the look that I want.
What I've decided already is to use a desktop motherboard, chip, ram, hdd and graphics mainly for the hdd storage capacity. I'll propbably use a laptop slotloading dvd drive or I think plextor have a desktop slot loader, not too pushed about that.
What I really need help in is power, touchscreens, and auto battery management and multiple monitors.

The way I want to set it up is as follows:
Slot loading dvd drive in the center console/dash plus usb ports.
Touch screen monitor and maybe some hand controls in centerdash or drivers side.
Full size monitor keyboard and mouse in glovebox/dash passenger side.
Two x 7" screens in the headrests.
surround sound 7.1
gps
tv
radio
Second battery to power all of the above.
Some kind of power management system to make sure main battery is charged first and is never run down enough that the car won't start.
Auto shutdown when car is at rest.
Powered by an inverter unless someone can suggest a pc monitor and power supply that will run off twelve volts capable of powering the above system.

You can just give the names of the components I don't really need ppl to go to the bother of posting links, I a big boy now I can google myself :-)

because this site is very underpopulated, ergo threads can live forever depending on which board they're on.
