I doubt the photo was taken in LA. He is wearing the same top and trousers he wore to SDCC. If as this suggests it was taken on the same day it was probably in San Diego. Or maybe he didn't take a change of clothes!

As for GdT, CP isn't his first blockbuster, Hellboy and Pacific Rim are and they were quite successful, in fact they are doing Pacific Rim 2 and if that goes well, Legendary said Helloboy 3 will happen. The difference is that CP is a serious film and not something based on comics.
The PR has been pretty dire. Nobody would be hanging around Belsize Park taking photos if her/his people hadn't leaked that story to US Weekly. Why not just keep quiet? All the more so if they started seeing each other before she formally ended her engagement - keep the chronology very vague and then this pic would just look like they got close later (if it ever surfaced, which it wouldn't as nobody would be looking)
