I can't remember when i last got to play a game that :
1:was fun and entertaining all the time.
2:when i never got tired.
3:the history was top class.
4:i wanted to replay it after i finished it.
5:i could play it for moths witout finishing it.
To sum it up my lates games i have tested is:
Half life(played 1-2days , never replayed it)
WoW(qitted fast)
gw(i only play once in the week)
Silent hunter 3(got boring fast)
hearts of iron 2(only one i have left)
So when in the good games coming?
*Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne
*Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly
*Castlevania: Lament of Innocence - To be fair, there might be Castlevania Geekdom involved. This game suffers significantly from Bad Camera Syndrome.
Long Time ago, it's called SHINING FORCE 3 and SHINING the HOLY ARK
damn you SEGA!!!!
Star Control 2
It doesn't really work for anybody who's not a 'hardcore gamer,' but many fighting games (CvS2, MvC2, SF3:TS, KOF2KX, etc.) and shooting games (Dodonpachi, Ikaruga, Psyvariar, etc.) would fit this bill.
However, that's only if you're 'hardcore,' because fans of these genres don't consider the game to be over when you've seen the credits roll by. Combo extension and competitive skill, or score-improving, are ongoing goals that span multiple sessions; 'beating the game' is barely even a milestone. I guess it's not really a 'casual gamer' aesthetic, but if you want a game that will occupy you for months and months, that's what you're looking at.
MvC2 is probably still the most competitive 2D fighter in the US; it's been out for 6 years, maybe? People still play Super Turbo in arcades near me. That's replay value for you.
>However, that's only if you're 'hardcore,' because fans of these genres don't consider the game to be over when you've seen the credits roll by.
I'm not entirely sure I agree there. I'll concede that fighting games aren't nearly as popular as when some of these games came out. When people play a fighting game, however, at the very least, they want to see the ending for all their favorite characters. Also, fighting games have a social aspect. People like to play against other players, which doesn't get you to the end credits any sooner. I'm not sure, however, that this appreciation requires being a hardcore fan of the genre.
Fable.
Say what you will about it, but I've given up 75+ hours of my life to the thing. It's just fun. Too short, though, I need to get the 'Lost Chapters' version.
It has MUCH more replayability than people give it credit for. I do things a little differently each time I play.
You make a good point. Also, in order for replay value to be worth anything, it has to be enjoyable enough to consider going through it a second time.
Considering some of the prices these games cost, however, I suspect the focus on replay value is so that you feel as though you got your money's worth. There is a certain amount of time I want to spend on the game. If it's too quick, I feel like I should have just rented it, or borrowed it from a friend.
Ragnarok Online, playin it for years and still enjoying it :D
>>46
I deleted that from my computer recently, freeing up 2 gigabytes of space. Hadn't played it in ages.
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne.
Cave Story.
Yes, I'm a cheap bastard.
Shadow of the Colossus baby!
Quite possibly the best game for PS2 yet~
I've been playing the 1985 NES Gradius XD
I can get to the end of stage 3 (easter island heads, or heads of moai), and then I die T_T
This is quite possibly one of the hardest shooters there are. I actually agree with >>42 about the ideal of hardcore gaming a bit. I have a friend that's been playing fighters for quite some time, and I haven't stopped shooters since I started when I was 4.
Other games that require hardcore players would be the armored core games for playstation, and most of the flight simulators (combat and non-combat). These games usually ask for a bit of time spent into reading on how to either use your mech/plane.
Armored core discourages a lot of people because they're too impatient, and don't want to bother customizing( some huge number of parts to cycle through usually) their mech to something they can work with best.
Flight sims are definitely hardcore games since you actually need to take the time to go through the lessons, or the time to play through 1 map. I haven't played these in a long time simply because I don't have a huge gap of time to fly around trading glares with a Spitfire or clipping the wings of a Hurricane.
FFIV
英語わかんねぇwww
FFVII, FF Tactics, And Xenogears(not the Xenosagas) are all games that I never mind replaying.
Resident Evil 4, played it through three times but third time it got a little boring because I had all the uber weapons with unlimited ammo^^
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
GTA San Andeas (Sp?) was good too. I remember I had paid vacation from work when they were coming out. A week by myself (well I saw some freinds too). Good times.
Manhunt had some flaws but was good overall, same for Hitman: Contracts. Contracts was a step down from the last in it's series in game controls though a step up in inovative environment interaction.
Oh yeah and I started X-Com for the first time ever and got hooked. Retro for ya.
Dragon Quest VIII is one of the few rpgs I played that nearly made me call in a 'sick day.' I played threw 40 hours without relaizing it.
I didn't mean I was done. It took me 40 hours to reliaze I waste 40 hours.
oh regardless it took me like a week or so to beat the game, since it was a rental copy, i was only like 7-10 years old too
Psychonauts
My best game
Glandia 1
Wild arms 2
Persona 2
VALKYRIE PROFILE
FF 10
final fantasy 10... so i guess you like the emo lead characters.. and ditzy females cough tidus and yuna

The coughing thing is lame when done in real life, even lamer when done in text, and absolutely pathetic when you just put in "cough tidus and yuna" at the end of a sentence. Please never do it again.
ok no problem, tell me why do you like final fantasy 10 lol
Liking Valkyrie Profile makes up for a lot of stuff.
BLOCK DUDE last period algebra.
Morrowind was the only game I wanted to play again after I finished it. Now I'm waiting for Oblivion.
Both Guitar Hero and Dragon Quest VIII. Both I can play for hours straight without even noticing the outside world.
i watched someone beat that game in 15 minutes i got the video from gamershell.com... he used tons of potions to buff himself up and rushed like heck accross the land, to fight some god and win, and see the ending fmv... pretty cool... judging how it took me like 20 minutes to leave balmora lolol
DDR and ITG. Two years and I'm still not bored X-D
Smash Bros Melee. My friends and I ritualistically 2v2 each other and no matter how long we play it, it never gets boring.
Magic the Gathering. With The same friends as SSBM. It just never gets old. I guess both Magic and SSBM stay fun mostly because of the in-game commentary my friends produce, but the games themselves are excellent alone as well.
Parappa the Rapper 2. I played through 3 times and it was a ton of fun each playthrough.
Tony Hawk: Pro Skater on the N64, I can't remember how much I plaid that game
the tomb raider series--all but the last one, angel of darkness. that one sucked ass. but i would always stop for a few months just because im stuck in the game, but then would always come back for more. and sims 2.
I've played counter-strike for a couple of years and it still is fun.
>>78
I agree, I loved to plaid that game too, and I played it a lot too (just giving you grief).
Tales of Destiny II and Tales of Symphonia. These games had awesomw stories and I played through both many multiple times.
My quick and dirty list(not for the faint of heart):
Doom II
Super Street Fighter 2
King of Fighters '95
Final Fantasy VI
Contra
Gradius
Metal Gear Solid 3
And that's all that I can think about...Everything else has just been a fad for me. Most of these games are mindless shooters and whatnot..with FFVI being the only RPG. But man...WHAT AN RPG...epic storyline lots of characters lots of sidequests it was pure GAME. No Final Fantasy game since has been good. With the exception of MGS3...all of the games have been a reflection of the times. When I was a young lad, in the 80s thru early 90s, games were shooters or fighters. Nothing far out, nothing you had to sell your soul for. You just sat down and gamed. Now...it's all cutscenes and blah blah blah....
MGS3 is my only exception because it has so many things you can do in it.
I think he last really good game I played was either WWE Smackdown Versus Raw 2006 or GTA Liberty City Stories.
FINAL FANTASY X was really good.
CG, voice, music were great, but before everything, the story was fantastic!
I like that kind of tradedy.
I cried and cried so much and it was the first time that I cried playing a TV game.
but... the game that was really good ever to me was FINAL FANTASY XI.
It took a lot of time to level my character up, but like I said about FFX,
the story and music were really good.
FFXI is MMORPG, so we encounter, fight and go to adventure with countless people.
Such a fun game, it was.
Ridge Racer 4. Or R4. Played that game so much. I honestly think I can complete a lap on any course...blinfolded. Guess I'll find out, then. Any excuse to play it again....
I think best game is Xenosaga series.
I'm playing The Minish Cap right now on the GBA, and while it is just a ripoff of A Link to the Past, that game was so good that even the ripoffs are awesome.
It's eating my life. I hope I finish it soon so I can stop playing.
I used to think Counterstrike was pretty good, but it's just fucking repetitive now. Same thing for most FPS's. There's only so many times you can shoot someone in the head and still enjoy it.
I like the Metal Gear Solid series a lot -- requires skill, is always challenging, some campy humor to provide comedic relief, lots of replay value... it's great stuff.
I like the Elder scrolls Series!
Kingdom Hearts. Even though I didn't want to replay it after beating it, I still longed for KH2. Will buy it when it starts hitting the bargain bins (I hate paying full price for games).
>>84
wow... FFX made me cry too..
who would want to see the lead character in horrible costume??
damn.. cosplayers..
MGS series is awesome
Raptor: Call of the Shadows
played it in the middle of the 90's...
not to sound like a dick but fir me it was Katamari Damacy, and still play it after all that time. I find it as a good pick me up after a bad day at work.
Resident evil 4 was really good, and the mercenaries minigame kept me going for quite a while after i beat the main game too
Ever17... editing was crap but the game is awesome, I'm playing it through for the third time now
Super Mario RPG - The best 3D rpg ever in history.
Burnout: Takedown
Shadow of the Colossus/Wander and the Colossus
I've been playing nethack for like 12 years. Since version 3.1.3 actually. Still haven't finished it; the boredom of like thirty maze levels in Gehennom eventually gets to me and I make that one stupid and entirely avoidable mistake. Then it's "do you want your possessions identified" and a new high score and a promise to never play that goddamn game again.
That damn game has cost me an entrance into a good school (8 years ago) and a job. And I'm going to have to beat it in my lifetime. They day will come, oh yes.
FFVII, Resident Evil (all of them), Xenogears
The Beatmania IIDX series: If you think you know about hard games, you ain't seen NOTHING yet. This game makes MGS3 and Ninja Gaiden Black look pathetic in comparison when it comes to sheer challenge. It will kick your ass at every single step in your skill progression, from your earliest beginnings to when you can AAA some songs with no problems. And best of all, it's such a fun, intuitive series, that you'll keep coming back for more. Significantly easier in the US release, but still VERY hard and VERY fun.
single word
Fable
alright, sure, it glitches sometimes, but its the best rpg ive plaed in a damn long time
metal gear solid subsistence, both snake eater + persistence
in regards to the beatmania game, I have not actually played it yet but it is at my work and was wondering if you could explain a little more about it >>105, Tripcode. Is it similar to DDR in the way the skill progression and timing are key?
I love battlefield 2 because of the l33t gamers r very impressive. It has a ranking system in the game thnx EA, I owe you one!
I like Battlefield 2 because fast vehicles with C4 on them annoy other people.
I just play POD's 'Boom' in the background, and I'm all set.
I enjoy the Metal Gear series, and I loved Phantom Brave.
CAVE STORY
>>1 You have very high standards for your games. I can't remember liking any game that much except when I was a grade schooler and only had "Beyond Dark Castle" to play on my father's black-and-white mac. And that was mostly because it was all I had. When I think of good games I think series, and I think what might I pay full initial release price (when I can spare the cash) for. Five series come to mind but most had moderate to serious disapointments in some of the titles.
5.Baldur's Gate. All the stuff I loved about playing DnD with friends, except less dice rolling, weeping over dead characters, and socialisation. Win some, lose some.
A couple of hours ago when I played Wander and Collossus.
EveryExtend, and it's free too. Another great game is CloudPhobia, also free.
Also, Touhou games (especially Perfect Cherry Blossom and Imperishable Night) keep my attention for a while too.
DDR, as mentioned before, is great until you get tired.
Metroid Prime 2 I have completed and I'm going back for a run through Hard Mode.
Ouendan is great, as is Guitar Hero. That's all I can think of for now.
Beatmania IIDX
DJMAX for PSP
Ridge Racer PSP
Idol Janshi wo Tsukucchaou (Suchi Pai Dreamcast)
I'll play these games any time. I wish I could say the same of the Metal Gear Solid games and RE4 - they're awesome, no mistake, but both just ended up unfinished for me. I get to certain points in the game, and all the fun just disappears around the same time repeating a section 10x makes no progress...
Soul Calibur 3, One of the best "dress up" games I've ever played.
Killer7
If you have played full game and didn't like it then I pitty you.
Final Fantasy 10 is the only game I TRULY enjoyed. Every second of playing that was fucking golden. I haven't played a game since that I liked so much.
Shadow Hearts Covenant
Yakuza PS2

I just started playing Steambot Chronicles. It's pretty great.
i have an issue with steambot chronicles, somewhat. well it's more of an issue with games at large. but it's extremely apparent here.
this game is advertised as one you can play in many different ways, as they say "be a bad guy if you want" ... so, why can't you be gay? you can reject the advances of connie to a certain extent, but the option "kiss hand" when meeting new people only appears with females...
then there's the gay character who runs the arena in nefroburg, i forget his name. he's just about as ridiculous, borderline-offensive as stereotypes get. and he hits on vanilla, but the most you can do is grudgingly sort-of accept his invitation to have dinner with him, and even if you do accept it never actually happens.
ah, well.
maybe i'm expecting a bit much from video games, it's not a medium known for its maturity in dealing with such issues.
>>123
they didn't think of it
>>124
they must have at least thought of it, when they were designing the options menu for meeting people. someone made a conscious decision to limit the more romantic choices to women. it wouldn't have had a huge effect on the game if you could do the same to men, maybe it would track an additional stat somewhere or something. likewise they obviously considered homosexual characters, since there is one, but never thought of making them anything more than the joke that he became.
Tetris
Ever since I discovered the Tales of - series. Starting with Tales of Phantasia it's been pure joy since September!
Final fantasy XII is the best game so far for me....
Final Fantasy 12 looks intresting. And may very well be such a game as Thrillho described. I will look into it.
I will contribute with Valkyrie Profile
I enjoyed Shadow of the Colossus...
Very beautifully made game >_>
I heard about Valkyrie Profile.nice game,i'm looking foward to play it >0<
Cooking Mama
i dont really nkow when i last played a really good game.
Maybe the last great game i played since ffx & New super mario bros is probably Cave story. :/
Today's games is more graphics and how many blood particles you can create or how big a boss you can put in that level than actual gameplay and innovation.
I hate todays games. WHYYY
> I hate todays games. WHYYY
Because you are not even trying to find the good ones.
On that note, last good game: Rhythm Tengoku on the GBA. Nutty rhythm-based minigames from the makers of Warioware. It's incredibly addictive, and also hilarious.
shadow of the colossus
best game on the PS2
I finished Twilight Princess for Wii an hour ago, and it is one of the best games I have ever played. Before TP I played Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice for All (逆転裁判2) and it was really good as well.
The last game I played that I truly enjoyed was Final Fantasy X.
North Korea thinks that I sell a nuclear weapon to Islam radical group from lack of funds at last.
I think that a radical group uses the nuclear weapon which I bought from North Korea for American attack
North Korea is the country which is dangerous to U.S.A
