I agree. I wouldn't mind even creating an "Otaku" themed board for all stuff Japanese. I like Japan, really I do. I like to read stuff from Japan. What I have a problem with is that ZOMGJAPAN!!!! threads take up 90% of the news and politics sections, and almost all of the TV/Film section.

There are other places on the planet. I'd love to hear about the opinions of other people on the newest video releases. I'd like to see some news stories that occurred in places other than Japan. You know like Burma or Pakistan. You'd think that an attempted suicide bombing on a major candidate for president in Pakistan would warrent a thread. Or the crackdown on protests in Burma, maybe that warrents discussion? Or Limbaugh calling soldiers who oppose the war "fake soldiers"? Alas, it will never happen here because shock horror THEY AREN'T JAPANESE.

The same with movies. I'm following a few of them, but on 4-ch it's the same shit. If it ain't from Japan, it doesn't matter. Heros and Lost don't exist here, Battlestar Galactica doesn't exist, Ugly Betty, Boston Legal, the Office, none of it exists on this board unless it's Japanese.

I don't think its lying to yourself to like Japan and Japanese stuff. You can like whatever you want to. You can post about anything you want to. I'll never tell people not to like what they like. I like some crazy shit, so whatever.

You just can't expect people to come and contribute unless there's content that they want to read. They'd come for smart content. If we could have good coherent discussions of political issues, people would come for that. If this was a good place to come for computer help, they'd come for that. If we had lots of news stories from around the world, they'll come. They won't come to read about "Dumbass in Japan chastized for editing wikipedia while working".
