There are a few other forums/boards that I just read, I hardly ever find a discussion worth contributing to where somebody hasn't already said what I wanted to say.
I think I followed a link here from some other English text board. Read that one japanese guy's thread in general and a couple other interesting threads so now I poke around here every once in a while.

My college blocked 4chan and 7chan so i browse iichan which lead me to this site. 4-ch is what /b/ was to me 2 years ago and I hope it has a longer life span
If I am typing on the keyboard they think I am working. From there, it is just an Alt+Tab to Quickbooks or Excel. Besides, it's more entertaining to watch real people online than read webcomics.
Personally, I like 4-ch because unlike Gaia, there's more of a feeling of an international community. Since I'm from America, it's not like I can just take a short car ride and visit another country.

4) I have no real life.
5) This forum will keep me busy killing my time before I discover a new "passion" that will also help me kill my time and help me get away from real life responsibilities, social life and generally live a life like a normal human...

I kind of wish this board, or at least some board out there (for America), could be an honest place for people to really collaborate and converse.
After watching Densha Otoko, I find that kind of nation wide society seems amazing, and would be great to find in some real sense.

This is not an 'American' board, and it being centred around Japanophilia makes it unlikely it will ever grow beyond it's small target audience.
I doubt anyone would bother making an anonymous-cultured text/image board that was broadly directed at the entire English-speaking world. It's just too foreign a concept for many of those unfamiliar with 2channel to quickly grasp.

There may be a link between 4-ch and 2ch but that doesn't mean that 4-ch itself is "attracting weeaboos". People wear articles of clothing. The previous statement create a link between clothing and people. Does this mean that clothing attracts weeaboos?
You need to try again. State another reason why 4-ch is "centered around Japanophillia". I can think of three but you need to validate your own claims without resorting to meaningless or baseless assertions.

A quick look at /love/ shows minimal references to Japan. The references to Japan and Japanophilia exist in that board but that doesn't mean that 4-ch has a philia towards Japan. It just means that some members of /love/ have a philia towards Japan.

It's an imitation of 2 channel, operated by and for the people who are interested in such imitation. This is chiefly the reason.
The existence of the nihongo board and nonexistance of other specialized language boards also clears this up.
There's the anime and manga board, rather than animation and comics, but I wouldn't post there even if the name and content was changed to such.
Also there's also the borrowed gags and art found in AA/DQN and some of the people who post here, which I was not referring to.

I mostly visit from university, at home I usually go to 4chan's /v/ since it is moving faster while still being at a somewhat good quality.
I find it interesting, and the anonymity makes it feel like we're all working together; it's like multiplayer Notepad.

I agree with >>101. I don't even watch anime or read manga or do things typical of a Japanophile. Japan is just another country to me. The reason I go on 4-ch is because I like the style more than I like that of most forums. It's lightweight, easy to use, and if you make a post that's hated horribly you're anonymous, so it doesn't matter.
In short, it's like a forum but fun.
