If you want good quality and have a few dollars to shell out, get the Shure SM58; otherwise, any $10 mic will do just fine with a bit of editing. For true DQN quality, though, headphones are definitely the way to go.

Well, that Vocaloid thing was pretty straightforward to get to work without undersanding Japanese. Very little trial and error is required to get the basic functions to work. This can definitely be useful to moe up the very long song.

Hey guys, what should we do about the encores? There are 4 or them:

  • 1st verse encore after bridge 2
  • 3rd verse encore after 1st verse encore
  • 2nd verse encore after bridge 3
  • 1st verse partial encore * 2 after 2nd verse vencore

We obviously can't have the exact same song file twice.

I think maybe we could just go the easy way and have someone say in a pretty DQN voice something like "As to improve your enjoyment of this song, we recommend you play the 1st verse a second time".

I've finally figured out how to write Vocaloid lyrics reasonably quickly:

  • lay out as many notes as there are syllabes for one or two sentences
  • right-click the first note, choose the next to last option
  • Write your sentence as engrish syllabes, each one separated by spaces. For example, 'i ro ru do mi tu i zo do mi ci ru' for "He lured me to his domicile".

There is a dictionary (ALT+L then C) but I've not figured out how the hell it really works yet.

Just in case someone else is trying to do stuff with Vocaloid, here are 2 additional things I've found out:

  • When editing a note, you can edit the pronounciation by pressing ALT + Down Arrow then writing pronounciation symbols
  • The pronounciation table in the included dictionary is only for English Vocaloids! The pronounciation with Miku is available in the help file: press F1 then look for the page "VOCALOID2発音記号一覧表（日本語）" in the last category ("付録").

I still plan on doing mine, although I have been having no end of technical problems the last month. Latest news is my computer is completely dead and I'm borrowing a friend's laptop until I can get a new one, but the entire 4th verse minus the last couple lines is still waiting patiently to be tied up and rendered to mp3.
