I haven't been here consistently. I was on 4-ch, world4ch, and some other textboards back in the day, but I took a multi-year hiatus. I think the first board I posted on was /o/ on 4chan, then I got into /lounge/ and /prog/ on world4ch. Then I branched out into a lot of other boards before giving up on these kinds of sites for a very long time. So I'm an oldfag who has taken a long break and recently come back. That means I'm not deeply entrenched in your echo chamber, but I'm not new either.

But you know what? It's good to get outside your bubble. I can't imagine posting on the same sites, living in the same city, only surrounding yourself with people who are exactly like you, etc. for years and years. I gotta change it up. I'm just visiting, but it's not the same. That's the thing -- this site seems the same, but it's me who has changed. It would be weird to not change over time.

Think of where you were years ago. Now compare that to today. Are you the same? Why or why not? I hope you're not in the same place. That'd mean you're going nowhere.
