Still not as annoying as people writing or saying "he/she" instead of a quick "they" to save everyone time. It was a complete non-issue in the past until some people demanded to be called they even when the gender was known. Singular they has a specific purpose which is perfectly fine when it's being used for that purpose. "If you're going to spit on someone, they probably would not like that" is way more natural and faster than "If you're going to spit on someone, he or she would probably not like that".
It's when it gets used outside of that purpose it gets annoying. Obviously plural they has zero controversy, it's a group of people.
