I like this simple text board. I expect that if I could post on 2ch and read japanese, I would post there instead. If 4ch could get bigger, and more diverse, it would be a good thing. There would be fewer idiotic posts and thus a bigger incentive to not be an idiot. Until then, DQN(s) rule this board.

I prefer to post on 2ch style BBSs such as 4-ch because is so much easier posting here as compared to boards such as phpbb and the rest. Oh and we're all anonymous so there's no identity whoring.

Actual serious discussion on an anonymous text board. 4chan is good to go to, but you won't find much but bored people posting random crap there (only mildly-serious board there is /g/, and half of it is people trolling Mac/CRT [I don't use either]).
I really could care less about it being Japanese, 2ch, or whatever else you guys like. I'm here for actual discussion.

I decided to look into the matter. Subeta was raided, and all the gaia account passwords were given out like candy. I took one and created an account using all the stolen items I had. I looked at the General Discussion board, and there were actually A LOT of topics about 4chan. It was horrible.

I like this text board a little more than 4chan's. Plus 4chan seems to me more about their image boards.
As for how I found this place... It's my friend's fault with his damn Densha Otoko.
I watched it and he was telling me about "Channels" in Japan and about 2ch and I was all "Hay, that's cool, lol!"

My college blocked 4chan and 7chan so i browse iichan which lead me to this site. 4-ch is what /b/ was to me 2 years ago and I hope it has a longer life span
If I am typing on the keyboard they think I am working. From there, it is just an Alt+Tab to Quickbooks or Excel. Besides, it's more entertaining to watch real people online than read webcomics.
Personally, I like 4-ch because unlike Gaia, there's more of a feeling of an international community. Since I'm from America, it's not like I can just take a short car ride and visit another country.

There may be a link between 4-ch and 2ch but that doesn't mean that 4-ch itself is "attracting weeaboos". People wear articles of clothing. The previous statement create a link between clothing and people. Does this mean that clothing attracts weeaboos?

A quick look at /love/ shows minimal references to Japan. The references to Japan and Japanophilia exist in that board but that doesn't mean that 4-ch has a philia towards Japan. It just means that some members of /love/ have a philia towards Japan.

It's an imitation of 2 channel, operated by and for the people who are interested in such imitation. This is chiefly the reason.
The existence of the nihongo board and nonexistance of other specialized language boards also clears this up.
There's the anime and manga board, rather than animation and comics, but I wouldn't post there even if the name and content was changed to such.
Also there's also the borrowed gags and art found in AA/DQN and some of the people who post here, which I was not referring to.

The reason I go on 4-ch is because I like the style more than I like that of most forums. It's lightweight, easy to use, and if you make a post that's hated horribly you're anonymous, so it doesn't matter.

I guess 4-ch isn't that popular, really. But relative to other textboards, this one is probably one of the more active ones.
I like the concept of anonymity, discussion is more focused on content rather than ego. And textboards seems to be more serious/discussion focused compared to many popular imageboards. I've always wanted to read 2channels posts since I'm kind of fascinated by the east asian bbs culture. But since I can't read moonrunes, I'm here instead.
